Hi Guys,
Ok Camber and I have finally tested the new 50A WAM on Cambers excellent 3 lane hybrid Scorpius/Analogue 30 m routed track last night.
First car we tested contained a Parma 16D motor which draws pretty big amps, I estimate over 20 amps (equivalent roughly to six 1/32 cars) and no power issues. we tested both 1/32 and 1/24. Fox and Cheetah motors handled easily.

Range is still a small concern but we may have simply reached the limitations of the radio chip. I will investigate further on antenna tuning.

Without mentioning brand names we compared it to one popular analogue controller and one rather expensive controller. Im glad to say the Scorpius controller and WAM out performed them both in terms of lap times. The controller was ultra smooth and predictable with no stops, shoot offs or other issues as long as the controller was in range of the WAM. Range is around 6-12 metres depending on room position relative to WAM position. Of course Id like to improve this.

Unfortunately we were only able to get 4 samples of the WAM so some beta testers will have to wait until another 50 or so arrive in 6 weeks. If all ok we plan to manufacture immediately.

Stay tuned for more reports.

Im hoping Camber will drop in and make a report.

Camber holding out on us? I've only seen his 2 lane Greenslopes Raceway, well under 30m of track. Where are the pics and info about this new 3 lane 30m track? Auslot only?

Damn I meant to shoot some video and got carried away testing. I must say the track is a blow out, hopefully Camber will post some pics.
Yup he's been holding out on us

To be fair the digital wiring is not quite complete so maybe thats why. At the moment its the ants pants track that Ive seen thar is hybrid.
I wont even mention Cambers specialised slot car workshop facilities!
Hopefully we see some of his custom aluminium wheels he's producing too.

How long roughly before it is available to buy Rick? As i am about to go analog racing again soon and would be great to have one controller for both digital and analog now that i have one of your Scorpius Controllers for myself.

If in the future I want to go Scorpius digital can i use the same controllers to interface with the sorpius digital car chips?

Update.
The WAM has lots of power now and works flawlessly up to the 6m range (18ft) but after that plays up badly. Range outside the house is a whopping 33m but for some reason inside is not much chop. Its now on its way to Seppo the magicial radio tuning engineer. Stay tuned.

Hi Oscar,
The LB WAM is now redundant. It is not powerful enough nor is the antenna tuned for it. Hence the loss of brakes.
we are concentrating on the WAM 2. beta which is 50A not 7A but our latest beta tests showed much room for improvement on radio transmission which we are working on soon.

Hi Guys.
The latest WAM is finally tuned and ready for final beta testing.

Plugs straight into Aussie driver station, run analogue cars on an analogue track with the Scorpius wireless controller.

So now use your Scorpius wireless controller on SSD digital (needs Scorpius dongle), any analogue track and of course Scorpius Wireless track. Multi purpose.
50A peak power should handle 99% of slot car motors on the market.

OK WAM antenna tuning was very good. I travelled 30 metres away outside the room and the control was perfect, I went outside onto the lawn, ran perfect, I even walked upstairs to the second storey and it was perfect, and perfect in 99% of the slot car room.
We found one extreme corner of the room wasnt 100%, But I dont think we are going to get it 100% perfect in 100% of places.
So up to John now to program the WAMs before shipping.

Merry Christmas all,

Just wondering the procedure for setting the WAM to another controller ID other than 1.

Put controller in "Set car ID and PIN", press LC button. Depower WAM, repower WAm, press LC on controller. Similar process to a car.
