Any one know were I can get a steel/iron plate from, have sourced the magnets, but can not work out who would sell such a small item as this.

i use a discarded metal disc from a circular saw try local joiners for their cast offs
works perfectly

Is there an engineering/machine shop near you ?
I got lucky at a local workshop/steel-stockholder on an industrial estate
£4 saw me get an 8 by 4 inch ( & thick ) flat steel rectangle with no burrs.
A charity shop sold me a hefty baking dish to do the "boiling water/cooling oven " thing.
