The 2012 F1 season continues to deliver interest and excitement. This is a great result. Sadly, it seems Williams have suffered some kind of KERS explosion in the garage after the race. Hope everybody's OK.

Really good result for Williams F1, well earned by everyone in the team and perfectly timed for Sir Frank.

Sadly now marred by the pit garage fire - hopefully no major injuries.

Really nice to see, well earned by all. Damon on hand too.

A nice answer to Rubens "they are all about the money not the car" line, 20 yrs in the sport and the guy still didn't get it, fortunately Frank and Patrick do. Safe to say that Cosworth engine sucked backside big time and left them chasing the wrong numbers back at the factory.

QUOTE (montoya1 @ 13 May 2012, 15:15) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Has any noticed that all the operational areas Williams used to be weak in are now where McLaren suck too.

Indeed, I had a Sam Micheal berating tweet written (for the second race in a row) but didn't send it for fear of sounding like a stuck record. Not good enough from Woking and you know i'm a big fan but Button had a stinker today, saw it coming when he started whining Friday afternoon, all over by the time he changed brake manufacturer Saturday

I was very pleased with this result, the tension in the last 10 laps as Alonso was closing on Maldonado was almost too much to take.

It's funny how your thoughts wander during a race like this and I had nostalgic and sad memories for the early days of Williams with Piers Courage as well as great memories of Jones and Regazzoni in the first successful car as well as obviously the Adrian Newey years with Mansell, Hill and Villeneuve.

It is no coincidence that the team's upturn in form comes after the sideways move of Patrick Head and Sam Michael's departure orchestrated by Adam Parr who I was pleased to hear Williams thanking him for even though politics/Ecclestone caused his recent departure.

Well that makes my mind up as to the first of my old analogue cars to chip up.
The old Williams Mecachrome FW 20 purely as a nostalgic memory.
Great to see that this season we have such a close grid and that the regulations are having an effect on the racing
for Frank and the Crew at Didcot

Thanks Kev.

I'd manged to avoid the radio, TV and news today and was just settling down to watch the recorded GP, but not before a quick look at SlotForum. Needless to say, your thread title has saved me two hours, so I'll just fast forward to the podium presentations!

Can we have spoiler alerts on race weekends? I can't be the only one who doesn't like to waste a nice sunny day by staying indoors watching GPs, but likes to avoid knowing the result until he's watched the race.

I haven't seen the race yet, but well done Williams. What a fabulous way to celebrate Frank Williams' birthday.

What? and you're complaining? Up here in Bonnie Scotland the weather was like.....Atrocious!! The roof of my shed got blown off today!!

Usually it's around Nov-Feb that happens, but MAY?

Seriously, you should watch it all, plenty of incident.

Tomorrow? I'll fix the shed.

Frank & Co are now base in Grove, just outside Wantage about 6 miles from Didcot. They moved there not long after Ayrton left.

I guess you say that they are in the Groove.

Great job by Pastor and Williams! Didn't see that one coming, but well pleased for the team, been a awfully long time sine JPM and Brazil 2004. Hope there arent any serious injuries from the pit fire.
Maldonado is a Monaco specialist, if he gets the car and tyres hooked up again could be the seasons' first double winner!!

having just seen all the photos of the williams fire, it was nice to see all of the teams mechanics pulling together to put out the fire before the fire brigade turned up.

lets hope the 9 that was hurt get well soon.

what a fantastic season so far, five races five diffrent winners.

it turned out to be the fuel rig that started the fire when pumping out sennas car.

From what I can see his morning a total of 31 people where treated as a result of the fire, but there are no reports of any serious injuries.

Turning into a cracking season. 2 first time winners and 5 different cars & drivers in 5 races. And you have to say Sauber and Lotus look right in the hunt for wins also.
