Nice work Gareth, I am too in the middle of purchasing track and the mounting it on an MDF board which I then want to winch up to my ceiling in the garage when not in use. Just out of interest where did you purchase the Dunlop bridge from? Keep up the good work

Hiya Gareth, thanks for the reply. I have been looking into the winch hoist lift thingy all weekend, I have just purchased a 1200lbs winch off eBay and x4 Pulley Hoists so I can lift the board to the ceiling when not in use. Earlier in your article you were talking about using folding horses as the legs for your track, I think i may join you in purchasing some of those as I was previously looking at some 36" folding table legs. These were nice but £28.99 plus £10 p&p started have me look elsewhere. Eventually when I do get this thing running I will post some pictures on the forum.

All the best, speak soon.

QUOTE (Gareth @ 17 Jul 2011, 16:53) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Track update:

This afternoon I completely filled my lounge with sawdust as I used my circular saw to chop up the second board and remove the heavy wooden surround. This left me just the main board which was far too flimsy so I used some strips of the second board and tacked them on the back to provide some structural rigidity.

This evening I'm going to lay the track out again and make sure the Start/Finish straight is laid out correctly. Then I can mark out the power tap sections and start practising drilling out the track to take the timing sensors.

Hopefully things will start to accelerate now.

Cheers

Gareth

OMG Gareth does the missus know of this!! Those saw's spray that stuff everywhere, you will be finding it for months.

On another note just had permanent electric installed into my garage today, Jimbo came over and we had a quick blast, just trying to get my Marchon to stay on the tracks. Jim eventually found out that replacement springs would do the trick. He's a good lad.

QUOTE (Gareth @ 17 Jul 2011, 19:58) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>It made a right mess! She did ask why I didn't dust sheet everything but I've managed to clear most of it up! I hadn't banked on quite that much dust though.

Good work on getting your garage wired up. I've got a couple of Marchons on the way. Be good to get them tuned up.

Hopefully when you come up to SCHORC you might be able, if lucky enough to see Jim's 'Blue Streak' which is a Marchon and Bob's Tomy Turbo 'Turbo'. Be good to finally meet up with you.

Looking good Gareth, it has certainly come on a long way since the early days when you were talking about which saw horses to buy for the table legs. Well done mate for getting this far. Any way great to have finally met the man behind the slot forum post. Keep up the good work mate.

Gareth had you just finished painting the track and board when you took the picture? it's looking good though mate. Years ago I used to have some grass type powder that I would paint on models then sprinkle the powder on the wet paint, instance grass effect?
