The first car is an Aurora Magnatraction with a Datsun body. Should be a photo of it on the first page of the thread.

Tried to seperate the two boards today but it really needs a saw and possibly a crowbar to make it happen!

A red Mini then yes definitely. Then I just want a blue one!

I love the Kenwood Porsche but I'm in no rush to get it.

I damaged my Petty car at the EAHORC meet and I'm really cross and a little upset about it! I stupidly put a lane sticker on the roof and when I pulled it off it took some of the paint with it. I'll keep it as a race body but I now want a replacement mint condition one as this one looks toy compared to the other LL-M Nascars I have.

Go onto Fortunate Robert's site. He has another blue/white Porsche which is very nice too. Not very common over here at all. I don't think the Kenwood is as difficult to source as it was available in this country. My brother got his when I got my Silk Cut Jaguar.

Track update:

This afternoon I completely filled my lounge with sawdust as I used my circular saw to chop up the second board and remove the heavy wooden surround. This left me just the main board which was far too flimsy so I used some strips of the second board and tacked them on the back to provide some structural rigidity.

This evening I'm going to lay the track out again and make sure the Start/Finish straight is laid out correctly. Then I can mark out the power tap sections and start practising drilling out the track to take the timing sensors.

Hopefully things will start to accelerate now.

Cheers

OMG Gareth does the missus know of this!! Those saw's spray that stuff everywhere, you will be finding it for months.

On another note just had permanent electric installed into my garage today, Jimbo came over and we had a quick blast, just trying to get my Marchon to stay on the tracks. Jim eventually found out that replacement springs would do the trick. He's a good lad.

It made a right mess! She did ask why I didn't dust sheet everything but I've managed to clear most of it up! I hadn't banked on quite that much dust though.

Good work on getting your garage wired up. I've got a couple of Marchons on the way. Be good to get them tuned up.

Hopefully when you come up to SCHORC you might be able, if lucky enough to see Jim's 'Blue Streak' which is a Marchon and Bob's Tomy Turbo 'Turbo'. Be good to finally meet up with you.

I've seen the photos of Jim's Blue Streak. This paint job is a big improvement over the previous one. I'm really intrigued by Bob's Turbo though. And it'll be great to meet you too Lee.

Some progress has been made this week. I laid the track out again on my far too flexible board and tweaked the layout slightly. It now has a short chute straight after the twisting hairpin section into another decreasing radius turn that tightens into a half hairpin before a small flick onto the start/finish straight. Plenty of room for the bridge now. I've also made sure that each straight is as long as it possibly can be so there aren't many gaps between corners.

The next job was to mark out where my power taps will go and drill all the holes. I soldered wires onto the two power tap straights and fed them through the holes. I only had to re-drill one set where the wires wouldn't quite bend properly. I'm quite pleased with the soldering job. Not too much damage to the upper sides of the straights. There is a bit of flux bleed around the rails but it seems to clean off quite easily.

The next job either this evening or Friday is to fit the light sensors into the track and drill the table out to fit them underneath. Once that is done I can screw the layout down once I've managed to source some 15mm long by 2 - 3 mm wide wood screws. I also want to clean all the connections on the track before I screw it down. I'm still debating soldering the rails.

Then it is wiring up the underside of the table, wiring the driver stations (the job I am dreading), sourcing some 7mm high rubber stuff for the kerbing and then some thin ply or board to edge the table and finish it off. They're all big jobs but I really feel the end is in sight!

Cheers. The BMW Valvoline is one of the four special Tomy Turbos that were released way back in the day. They wewre the Valvoline BMW, the white/blue/red BMW, a Sierra Cosworth and I think the last one was a white and blue Nissan Skyline or something like that. They're all lexan bodies. The chassis was pretty standard but it had the green wire motor and sponge rear tyres.

The moulding of the body isn't great. On the white BMW, the side windows on one side start at half the height of the other side!
