I have recently puchased a Scalextric T2 track it is pretty nice and big enough for now. What are some good pointers for making my track more realistic and overall better looking for a cheap price?
When i say cheap i mean "CHEAP"!!!

JC, are you making a permanent layout? If so, look in the "Tracks & Scenery" forum. Lots of great ideas in there. Some great info can be found in Nuro's posts over the past few months - he's been detailing his track's progress with text and photos. Plenty of other very interesting reads in there too. Also, check out the "Members Layouts" section in the SlotForum "Resources" area.

I must say that what I've been doing recently on my track is very cheap. All the borders and landscape between the tracks come from 2 packs of ceiling tiles @ 10 euros. The flyover borders, outer crash barriers, Pits building and pit wall come from 6mm and 3mm foam sheet @ 10 euros.

Paint and glue about 30 euros.

The expensive stuff is the shop bought material: The scatter (4 bags) and grass mat @ 42 euros and trees @ 77 euros.

Remember that my track is quite large so there is allot of material. You can save $$ if you make your own trees and find a natural substitute for scatter material.

Harry has a number of brief but good tips on his site I will list a few here. I'm missing one on borders made from cork but maybe it was here or SCI that I seen that one. It almost makes me want to get plastic again... hmmm second thought no.
