Over the course of the last 8 years, I've collected dozens of 1/32 scale (mostly gt) race cars and have had my kids and a couple of buddies in the hobby with me buying cars and competing along side me. We try to match cars for competitions and I've mainly settled on Scalextric cars and Ninco cars for various reasons... and they mainly race against like manufacturers and class....
Long story short, here is a short list of my best competitors over the years... These are the ones that have won more than their fair share and even won when it shouldn't win:
Fastest car I've ever driven and holds the time record on our track: Scalextric MG Lola (fastest car and only car in it's same neighborhood is the Scale Lister... and totally destroyed the nighthawk that my friend has)
Best GT competitor: Ninco Ascari (ahead of the Mosler by just a nose)
Overachiever: The Synergy TVR. (won't deslot, feels underpowered but in this case the tortoise actually won lots of races)
Other cars that have pushed the above cars to their greatness (basically honorable mention): Scale Aston martin, Scale Lister, Ninco Mosler (probably my favorite all time to race but it's just a little too long to stick with that ascari in a short/intermediate term race).
Some cars just "got it"....
Jury is still out on my Ninco Lambo that has the big motor... He seems to deslot too easy but has the most top end of any car I have. I'll be interested to get him up against the ascari.
Over time, I've seemed to categorize my cars as Ninco vs Ninco and scale vs scale... gt vs gt and the lmp vs lmp.... so each class has it's own champ and we keep track records for each car as well. THIS is really one of the main reasons I'm in the hobby.... for the competition and the relative performance between each car. (AND THE fun time spent with kids and friends!)
