Personally if I want a static model or am going to spend upwards of £40 I go for 1/43rd scale, plenty of choice, lots of detail (no guides sticking underneath) and it is possible to get then built professionally and still have change from less than £200.... Besides which 1/43rd models take up a lot less space...
