QUOTE Light and rather wide.Nice bodies, but,it's a real shame they feel they have to distort them from proper scale width just to gain performance.

That's the same old start of the same old slippery slope that destroyed slot car racing the first time round.

Sad to see that happening again already.

Hi Al,

The Scale Manufaktur bodies are very much to scale. The Germans and the Japanese won't (thankfully) use them otherwise.

Anthony, yes, as Markus has mentioned, its the Group 5 BMW powered Lucky Strike Racing March 73S, that raced in the 1972 Springbok Series. It didn't fare too well against the Team Gunston and Lucky Strike Racing Chevrons, though.

Niki Lauda and Jody Scheckter finished 4th with the March in the Kyalami 9-Hours (won by Clay Regazzoni and Arturo Merzario driving a Ferrari 312PB), while Scheckter drove it solo in the Cape Town 3-Hours, finishing 5th.

Jody teamed-up with Dave Charlton for the Lourenco Marques 3-Hours, where they finished 2nd, and for the Goldfields 3-Hours, finishing 10th.

Jody Scheckter again drove solo in the Pietermaritzburg 3-Hours, retiring after 37 laps with brake problems. Dave Charlton co-drove John Hine's Lucky Strike Racing Chevron B21 Ford at Pietermaritzburg, finishing 2nd behind the Team Gunston Chevron B23 Hart which was driven by Peter Gethin and Jochen Mass.

Boy, I really miss those days...

Kind regards,

Russell

Russell,

Is this the car that now stands in the Marconi Museum? I seem to remember a Scheckter/Lauda Lucky Strike car there when I visited a few years back. Must go again some time - it's only 5 minutes from my house.....

Take a look at the T160,they never had flares like that on them. The car looks to be over a foot wider than it should be.

Also, the flares and aero kits on the DTM cars seem a bit on the optomistic side.At a guess,I would say a full half inch wider overall than they should be.

Al,

how about you trying to get the correct proportions sized down to 1/24 and we compare them to Russell´s body. Everything else looks like Kaffeesatzlesen to me ;-))

I agree with you regarding the Lola which wasn´t a production car. Their DTM cars are run in DTM classes according to the rules and don´t oversize their competitors (model kits from the shelf).

Best wishes,

Markus

great work guys!

here's mine project at this moment: My own Alfa Romeo 33 Autodelta Team

the two old scalextric shells

although the paint on the pictures looks quite glossy, in real it isn't. I am not satisfied with the result so I will do another layer. Any one a suggestion what went wrong. Should I warm the paint in the can a bit more, or did I spray to much or to close?

It's more a case of what is around your bench. I've been given another shed which is going to be my scratchbuilding workshop. that way I can leave projects and tools out while I'm working rather than keep clearing away. Also, because I work nights my sleep pattern can be erratic so I'll be able to get in there in the middle of the night without disturbing anyone. I'm really looking forward to getting it finished.

Here's a link to my other shed with my track in it

I'm afraid, John, that you've just left yourself wide open to be referred to as that from now on

What sort of paint did you use? Most likley just put on too dry!

Phill, you are right, alfa romeo all over the place and two 1:1 in front off the house. And I 've a problem for the 2006 proxy.

I've used (dutch) halfords automotive spray can, and dried for two weeks

I never worry about the gloss or matt finish of my paint because I finish in Future and that dries glossy regardless of what is underneath. My Cunningham Le Monstre was sprayed in matt white primer and that is nice and shiny now it is sitting under three or four coats of Future.

So perhaps that might solve your problem?

It's a floor wax for wooden floors. Known as Johnsons Klear in the UK and Future in the US - somewhere on the web is a FAQ telling you the brand name in lots of different countries but I couldn't find it in a quick Google search. Start a seperate thread in Scratchbuilding and I'm sure someone will point you in the right direction.

Ernst: Both Dave Bantoft and myself have tried the floor sealer and have not been happy with the results. May be the one available here is different. Several proxy cars were sealed with it and the decals have come off with all the handling over the 5 races here. As you have used auto paint on the car why not use auto clear to seal the finish? It can be polished as you would a 1:1 car. But be very careful when you apply it over the decals, you must apply the first coats very dry and allow them to dry before wet coating. Have a look at Dave's paint jobs on his and Jeff's Ferraris.

Proxy cars

We will have to try and fine a Pre '59 Alfa body for you!

Most Danish 1:24 guys use a 2-part auto lack.
Its the same guy that does it for us.
It gets very clear, and can be polished.
When applied to matt paint, it adds so much depht in the color, and looks so good.
It newer comes of again.

In my on-going and continual rebuild and race process, I am currently busy with a number of projects, these being the two latest.

One is a 1/24 360 Modena for Momo chassis. This is the standard Tamiya/Revell type Road going car, which I''m converting to the racing Modena. Here is the latest Pic, showing the rebuilt nose.

and this is a 1/32 scale Carrera Aston Martin, busy being upgraded from the "James Bond" green Road Car to the latest, DBRS9 as raced at le Mans and the FIA GT Championship..

More to follow soon.

Regards

Just finished the decals on this little beauty.

I bought some real scrappy bodyes from a guy in England, this was the best I could get out of them.
The roof had so deep scratches, its almost made entirely of green putty.
Almost all details were sanded off, so I had to add that grill-decal in front of the windscreen.
Its going to be mounted on a homemade alu-chassis (not made yet, maybe I can convince Derek to do it for me), and its gonna be a 4*4 with belts.
I had the decals with Gulf, and a little drop of the real matt blue color, so 2+2 were 4

I hope the glossy clear coating will wake the coloring up, because now its almost sad to look at, absolutely no gloss.
Its going to participate in the semi-national Danish Euroscale series.
I dont care much about winning with this car, I just wanna participate with an Escort, THE car from my childhood.
