WHAT IS YOUR `HOLY GRAIL` CAR

I`ve been collecting long enough to know which cars are rare but my question is more personal. Which car are you searching for that perhaps the guys here can help you find. So what have you been trying to add to your collection but just cannot pin one down?

For me it`s the older SCX 6 wheeled Tyrell, boxed and mint. I see a few at swapmeets etc but I want one in mint condition. I saw one at Seans a couple of years ago for £85 and didn`t get it, fool that I am. What about you guys? Anyone rich enough to be seeking that Scalextric blue Bugatti or an Auto Union

The car that got me really interested in slot racing again was a Fly Joest Porsche. At the time I had no idea who Fly were, and just bought the car as 'something different'.
It was far better than (actually it annihilated!!) my Scalextric cars at the time so a few days later I went back to the model shop and bought, as a running mate, a nice Fly Porsche Le Mans car - the A72 Porsche GT1 98.
What I wouldn't give to be able to go back to that day, stick another £50 in my pocket and get the A71 and A73 as well!!
They are (IMHO) such beautiful, and beautifully reproduced, cars.
When they do pop up these days they're well out of my price range, so it's just a pipe dream, really.

QUOTE I just want the McLaren Mercedes F1 version 2006 (Kimi or Montoya) with no. 1 on the front!!!!

Sorry Rene, but I think the only way you're going to get that is to ask Iceman!!

Recently got one of my 'holy grail' cars, Fly E72 Porsche GT1 98. They pop up on ebay quite regularly, but usually for quite high prices and usually when I'm skint!

I think the seller was a little 'too honest' for his own good. He mentioned that there were minor scratches on the side of the car. Well, if the light's right and the angle's right you can just about see some tiny marks, but it certainly won't spoil my enjoyment!
Winning bid? £21
Great big grin on my face - priceless!

cheers,

Not as exotic or exciting (or expensive!) as some of the cars mentioned here, but I've finally managed to get my hands on the car at the very top of my wanted list - the Le Mans 98 winning Porsche GT1 98 by Fly, ref A71.

They turn up on ebay from time to time, often at extortionate prices, and never when I have any money! But in the end it was Sean and Tony at Pendle that came up trumps with this one

It's funny in a way, because the sister car (A72) was the second Fly car I ever bought, but this one is the 162nd to join my collection.

With the test car as well, they make a nice little trio.

They all have a few gentle laps now and then, but basically they're (my only) shelf queens.

cheers,

Rob
