Was Scalextric classic untill I couldn't be arsed to clean it, so I brought loads of sport track.

I use the only one that allows any radius, any length curve, and straights that aren't really straight.

I am using Ninco; in January I will build a moving table suspended from the wall of my garage; it will be 5,5 x 2 metres; I am using Tracker to made various layouts but I am yet uncertain on two or four lanes.
I will show to you the work in progress.

I have always had routed until my shed roof gave way about 18months ago ,ruining all my hard work I replaced this ( along with the roof ) with about 60ft of Polistil track with the steel rails coated with copper tape .The result is super smooth with perfect continuety and magnatraction .The down side is the rails are slightly raised so the cars I run at preston and pendle are a bit low but its still good for testing .I have 3 of the cheap carrera sets and I will be replacing it soon but I also have plans to rebuild the routed track when time allows.

Currently a mix of Classic and sport (mostly classic) Scalextric. Which i find works great. unfortunatly this is not a permanant setup

due to a Lack of space

and time). When the she that must be obeyed and i move to a larger house in the summer (i currently live in Teesside work in Wilmslow 170 miles) and am home for longer than the weekend all my slot projects including a 3 lane routed track will move on in earnest.

I would be interested to know why people run the tracks they do.

I run a combination of classic and sport track as i have been collecting slots for almost 20 years and to replace all the classic track with sport track would be very expensive. I got the John cooper challenge set as a Christmas present so i could finnaly upgrade my controls and join the brakers. I have to say having the abilty to brake the car makes racing much more fun and controlled.

I run Carrera track because I have enough space for a large permanent layout. I also like the deep slot and smooth surface. Carrera's width allows me to run 1/24 cars, which I do quite often. Also Carrera rails will not rust and are less magnetic so today's magnet cars do not feel as stuck down.

Ninco for me. I like the lane spacing and the ease of set-up. I don't have the space for a permanent layout and I can get the Ninco set up real quick. Holds together great on carpet and really sturdy if someone mis-steps

I currently run on scaley classic in 4 or 2-lane configuration depending on conditions. I run it because I've collected the pieces for some time now and I can't afford buying a new system. I run no mags, and no breaks ( I have modified one controller to take brakes but I can't be botherd doing it to three more). I've made my own borders from different types of wood, and masonite. here are some pics:

As to the topic of the thread I can't vote as I have , I have mostly classic with some SCX and Sport (split about 50/25/25 for the detail fanatics among you).

Only Scalextric Sport for me, got tired off the rusty Classic one day and threw it out...

Okey, I didn´t throw it out, I sold it, but the guy who bought it has probably thrown it out the window by now...

Scalextric digital was the way to go because simply of availability and also because it allowed me to fitt a bit of lenght onto my permanent layout (~45m). Using a track designer (Ultimate Racer 3.0) you can play around and see what you will get. With the excellent PB-Pro 1.8 SH plenty of ower is available for any number of cars. Using SSD Console by Any Wallace you can see all your mods and results on a screen, you can record and playback your pace cars (in case you are a "lonely" racer - as I am). The soon to be released upgrade will even playback lanechanges. Endless possibilities on the horizon.........
