What's wrong with my Challenger??

Hi guys, I don't know if there's something wrong with the Challenger and would like some advice. I tried to run it on a Carrera track for the first time last night and had everthing set up properly. After the car had learn the track for two laps, it came back and stopped at where the magnet is, as it always does and supposedly ready to race.

The problem is that it doesn't matter whatever button I press, ie. fast or slow, the car would just deslot big time in the first corner. I've also tried switching between classic and sport on the car itself but had the same result. I used to run the challenger on a Scaley sport track and only had problems with it when it comes to R1 hairpins.

The Carrea track is contructed from only standard straights and 1/60 degree curves, so nothing tricky really. The start/finish is on the long straight.
The challenger is standard without mods and I made sure the tyres and the track were clean.
Any ideas??

Many thanks!!

slot_d - those plugs just provide a 'short' - ie like having the throttle on full. The difference between them is only the connections, so only the correct one will fit. If it was broken, the car would either not work at all, or go too slowly, not crash.

Cheers

Dave
the batteries go in the control tower. This sends single 'word' messages like 'learn', 'go slowly 25 lap' , go fast 50 lap'. All the learning and speed control is contained within the car, so i suspect the new batteries was only coincidental with your challenger getting better
