Hello, gentlemen! Joel, thanks for posting my Pics from Photobucket!! I just received the Champion Lola-GT Clear body from electric dreams to put on the chassis and I gotta tell ya, the surfaces were riddled with small bubbles! Horible!!!! I've contacted them and am waiting their conformation of a better one in stock! "Is anyone making quality products anymore"!!!! About the collet pinion gear, "it works" and works very well on this Champion unit! Once nut is loosened both the collet & gear slide right off! Dimensioned just right!!! The Corvette body needs some splits repaired at the front & rear - bottom edges. No big deal now thanks to Tony's Parma lead! Just placed new carrera brushes on the rather large guide-shoe, brushes seem alittle small on it but may be ok. I thought the brushes would be more like 3/16" wide but in fact are closser to 1/8th". I even had trouble winding the screws through the holes. Could be 3/16th longer, also! Almost seems like there for 1/32, gee, I hope there not! Anyway, think I may have found some nos blk silicone slicks, also!!

Don, your right it seems on these cars, have yet to see one go on ebay still in the box! Wonder what the price would be on that! Anyway, there are in fact several over at the Petersen Auto Museum right here in Los Angeles! They have a Slot Car section. I havn't gone yet but plan to, soon! I live just eight minutes away from them. If anybody would like to see pics, LACMA has a website showing many of these RARE cars "still in the box"!!! There the ones that bought the remaining Champion of Chamblee's inventory! "Just think, these cars are allready fourty five years old"!!! I will get good pics!!

it sounds like you need 36D brushes and paul G in canada has urethane tyres to fit your wheels. by the way i,ve got spare, solder on 48p brass gears, from 44 to 48t and brass pinions 7-8-9-13t push fit 2mm shaft. pm me if you need something and i,ll send it to you, john

Hi, John! Thankyou very much for this bit of info! I presume 36D brushes were the largest as opposed to what, 26 or, 16D?? Sure could go for a pair of them if you have! So, do you recomend the urethane's over say vintage silicone for my car "for running"??

36D motor brushes were the largest at the time that chassis was made.
Later 36d size motor brushes became the standard size for 16d size motors. So modern Parma 16d brushes will fit your old 36d, as will the brushes for most modern high end slot car motors.

The motor shaft size for a 36d is 3/32" (2.38mm). The motor shaft size for a 16d and most modern slot car motors is 2mm - although some are even smaller at 1.5mm That means you'll struggle to find modern slot car pinions larger than 2mm bore. It is possible to grind the shaft down to 2mm or bore a 2mm pinion out to 3/32. For a restoration, vintage parts sound like a better idea.

hy Gaincell,I was talking about motor brushes,But i have got some Big Mama guide braids and the modern 16D motor brushes. I honestly dont know what tyres would give you the best performance, But i,d guess at fish rubber on a glue track. Youve got some wicked horsepower there, trying to drive skinny 1/2 tyres. PM me with your address and requierments and i,ll send you what i,ve got. john

There are plenty of pinions for the 36D floating around - and they're not 3/32", but slightly undersize at .091" (metric, maybe 2.3 or something like that) - if you tried a 3/32 pinion, as used on all the Pittman and other US made motors, they would definitely be floating around!

Just picked up a vintage set of blk Silicone Slicks on their wheels!! 1-1/8" x 5/8" WOW!!!! Perfect for the Vette body-flairs...... Shane

your right on both counts Shane. the pinions .091 hole are available on US ebay. iIhaven,t got any of these, I use 2mm ones. the thingie section would be better for you. Theres some real ledgends on that forum who,ve been doing this for over 40 years. pm John Havliceck from new york for any motor info. John

John, I remember when Havliceck "stole the ball"!! smile! Actually been reading a bit on a few of the pro's, in both motor & chassis building! I even contacted Lee Gilbert last week on chassis's and he wonderfully got back to me on the next day. He's out here on the west coast also, up in Maple Valley, WA.
