If you are referring to the collection that I sold via SF to another SF member, then the answer is no, I'm not a dealer.

Kind regards

There is a pretty obvious difference between a long standing, well established and HIGHLY respected member disposing of some excess personal equipment and a One-Post-Newbie advertising over SEVENTY sets which he admits he bought cheap and is selling purely for profit. This would almost certainly be seen as treading on legitimate dealers' toes.

While there might be occasional gray areas, this most certainly isn't one of them!
Seems crystal clear to me.

My point was taken the wrong way. It was not intended to be personal nor am I accusing Russel of being a dealer. I asked a question in relation to setting the standard on the forum, the result of which should prevent a problem in the future.

In my view, a member is an equal member and should be treated with equal respect irrespective of how long they have been signed up here. Anyone who sells something is usualy selling it to make a profit. The point made earlier regarding the Carerra sets may have had a point but wasn`t Transit selling his sets very cheaply? Why,when some people had stated they wanted one or two, is that a problem? How is it different to selling a shed load of cars? Again, that is not aimed at Russel but I ask in the interest of a fair and level playing field. How you aquired your collection and at what price is irrelevant, otherwise we would open a real can of worms. We are all grown ups here and can make our own informed decisions. I don`t need a Nanny thanks.

The Swap shop is to allow members to exchange, swap and sell their Slot-car related wares. If somebody has one or one hundred card that they want to get rid of then that's fine.

If a person buys a car with the intent to resell it at a profit then they're dealing in slotcars. It is best for them to put it up on eBay. They can provide a link somewhere appropriate to allow prospective buyers to see their goods.

If a few sets become available on the market, then it is ok to share the information, but if someone starts a home business of buying the sets with the explicit intent to resell them - then in my opinion they are dealing and should act in a responsible manner, pay taxes and be fair to other dealers who pay good money to advertise on sites such as SlotForum.

You wouldn't want all the European Slot-car dealers posting all over the place on the forum with their latest releases and special deals would you?

I`m happy with that. That`s my attitude to `dealers` in a nut shell. I`ve posted before that I disagree with `Del Boy` traders at swapmeets. To me it seems simple . Swap here, not sell then it`s sorted in one , sell on e bay. That would be my suggestion because you cannot police if someone is getting rid of a collection or bought them with the intention of selling to make a profit.

Shortly I will be sell some of my collection, that I have collected over the last 40 years. So that I can collect more railcars and very early slot cars. In the same way as Russell this will in no way make me a dealer.

It sure beats the heck out of me why one person, who appears not to be involved in selling, whether commercially or not, persists in stubbornly scratching and picking at this same subject.
The simple rules are posted in Swap Shop for anyone to read.
There is nothing particularly complex about them, EXCEPT perhaps for someone seeking to bend or break them.
A definitive statement was given HERE
Nuro has now posted yet a further explanation for those who either couldn't or wouldn't comprehend previous writings.

Enough already!
