The most important thing about starting a Topic is to make sure you are using your primary account and not your secondary one, using your secondary one which is illegal and using it to post skewed questions in forums you don't normally visit and getting found out and forced out.. Totally brilliant...

Along with Topics that are started and nobody replies to so the op keeps bumping them up.. Sheer desperation for recognition..

So is a thread a series of posts, which follow on from the ideas/debate initiated the OP?

c

Edit: I think I posted at the same time as Ade so my question relates to the earlier line of discussion.

Is something weird happening to the editing of this thread?

I'm sure when I looked at it a day or so ago there were a couple of posts from Portals999 which have now disappeared. Wobble's post at #70 quotes a post made by Portals999, but the quoted post has vanished.

If that's the case and a mod has decided that some posts need removing (I presume because they hint at the reason for Munter becoming an ex-moderator), I have no issue at all with that, but I wish that something along the lines of "post removed by xxx" could be left in their place instead. Without such a note, the thread becomes confusing and I start wondering whether my senility is getting worse.

Think if the thread is about learning someone or educating then it should stay on topic, but there’s no ownership. Ie a thread about tyre truing shouldn’t be allowed to morph into a discussion on best guides.

if someone is showing their cars or track then , etiquette is not to be putting up your version, although think I have beenguilty onscalex brm thread 😔

it’s like you’ve put on a display of water colours in the church hall , only to find out banksy has put a graffiti on the front door .

I think with the forum platform change over that users can now also edit any of their posts, that had better be fixed or explained to everyone or their might be some weirdness to come!

(edit! ....) I think it is fair that users can edit their posts for at least a few hours after posting them.

Well apparently that's a 'mod' phenomenon, rather than just editing out the the text they feel is inappropriate they do a hatchet job and lazily remove the entire thread making less sense of the overall Topic, good job!

It could be a lesson learnt from other mods who spent a lifetime of browbeating kids in to submission and only ever taught them to despise authority?

I have the full original post and all edits, I'm not being creepy like some by using 'admin' tools to snoop, I'm much more basic, good old Internet protocols, every change is recorded for posterity. ;-)

I'm going leave it there....

Um, as discussed above maybe you mean starting a 'Topic'? :) (y)
And now I'm even more confused as to which are topics, threads and posts?

❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ I love cats, drop bears, everybody, in fact, everything!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

However....someone else just made this all up........forum=broken........

What's wrong with Fred?

I do agree it gets confusing when posts are randomly edited/deleted with no context or explanation?

So, is dropbear also threadbear? Topicbear doesn't work for me.
I do agree with Dopamine that if a post is deleted, it should say so, and as Portal said, it would be best to just remove the offending words rather than the whole thing.
The way it is currently done is most annoying.
Returning to the topic, this is a forum for discussions, not a collection of monologues.
