Been buying slot.it type c chips from pendle everytime I get a new car… or 5 but they see,pm to be out of stock if both these and the F1 retrofit chips and apparently have no eta on getting the slot.it chips back in.

everywhere else I’ve seen the slot,it chips they are more expensive.

ao Can anyone recommend a stockist?

other alternative is to buy the easy fit chips but I a, not sure if they have the ability to use a separate IR LED to the one on the board?

Any currently available chip should be fine for non-mag, reasonably motored cars. The latest saloon DPR chip, without the silver can bit, is a good choice. Any chip can be converted to LED on wires by just desoldering the LED and putting wires between it and the chip.

You can also use the DPR chip, just remove the hatch and 4-pin socket and solder your wires directly to the pads.
It has dedicated light pads and no big capacitor.
Overall it is a great chip for ssd.

That's exactly what i do now for my nsr slot.it and so on rev H chip with hatch removed like you said.. Works perfect

Just as a matter of interest, what do you do with the white socket on the DPR chips? Do you remove it or what?

apologies for the typos on the original post. posting from my ipad is quite difficult!

what is the SKU number/C code for the latest DPR chip?

does anyone have any photos, just to see the basic process? then I will buy either those or the F1 retro fit which is great because of its size.

F1 dpr chip has better rating than F1 retro if it's still available 🤔.

And its a very nice package once released from its plastic housing , works out the box as well 👍🏼.

Be careful Scalextric don't understand configuration control so all the old chips bear the same part number as the more desirable newer chips...

Connectors are different size for the F1 DPR chips

so if I buy this, which bits do i need to remove/unsolder to use an external IR let and connect to the motor?

I presume I remove the white plastic bit and solder to the board as I would on a slot.it chip, then conect to the motor, where are the connectors to the braids though?

Is this fairly simple to do?

The white plug has 4 wires

There's 4 wires on the white plug black and red go to the motor and the green and yellow ones go to the guide i normally put yellow on the left and green on the right side of the guide

Another tip is don't desolder the led I've ruined 2 chips not being able to get a connection back on the the pad.. Now i just cut the led off by leaving a piece of led wire sticking out of the board that way you can solder onto it..

you do not need to have an external IR led if the car has enough space to install the chip just rear of the front axle.

Thanks all and thanks for the pictures Gavin

Do we have a picture of the underside so i can assess the feasibility of taking it off. not likely to have the space as my cars are SCX 4wd so little room for the chip under the axle.

also what are the dimentions of the circuit board only? just wondering if its bigger or smaller than the Slot.it Chip

If anyone has any links to the correct connectors on ebay, that would save me a soldering job and I can use the connector to connect to the braids and motor rather than soldering both ends of the wire.

FYI these are the IR diodes I bought. I previously bought some LEDs from EBAY with the correct frequencys but they were LED not IR and didn't work. These work perfectly
