Hi I bought a lot of 3 2nd hand carrera evolution cars to chip but when I got them realised it was going to be a cut and solder rather than a screw and plug job.I'm now selling them on, on ebay
My question is when did the evolution cars change so that you could just swap the chip ?I want to avoid buying more cars I don't want

A few of the cars released in 2007 were D132 ready.

I think all of the cars released in 2008 (and all since) are D132 ready.

All cars that represent new car types (i.e. new bodies) since 2007 are prepared for digital conversion.

All older cars - and all cars that only represent new designs of older bodies (pre 2007), are not prepared for digital conversion.

I set up a list of all Evolution cars ever made. Although it is written in german, the important information is language-independent.

Have a look at the very right column named "Technik". If it says "D132-anything" the car is prepared for Digital conversion.
