I much prefer the newer version , you have many more options to block content and profile info etc , under the old system my profile was trolled almost daily by one member ? As were others..

Interesting to see how many guests are online compared with members!

Don
A lot of shy people out there!
Do you get to see less adverts if viewing as Guest ?

It used to be way more on line with only a few guests, how many are being re directed from Google searches etc to here ?.
When I click that link apparently I am "viewing an unknown page" according to the stats. I do find it a bit odd that I can see who is currently managing their profile, that is probably a bit much and possibly a tad invasive.

Number of guests is interesting, its not just here, I notice on other hobby forums that the guests often far outnumber the logged in members. Makes me wonder who it is, is it bots trawling for things or members taking a peek from their work computer or is there actually quite a few punters from outside having a look?

Please ask VS to get their act together and reinstate user privacy. Despite me, and I suspect many others, having configured my profile's privacy settings to not show my online status, that link still shows me as online.

I don't consent to this invasion of privacy by VS.

Thanks Ade. Just checked the list and you're not on it, so I presume I'm not too.

Hmmm, I would be sceptical about the number shown below. I imagine that [Members online] is accurate as they can easily track live sessions using active session cookies however [Guest online] that includes 'hidden visitors' could mean a lot of things, bots etc., I don't think anything like that number will be real people lurking?

Access to their Google Analytics console is only way (they use googletagmanager), to be sure, ask them for read access to that Riko!

You're being tracked to an extent regardless of you SlotForum privacy settings for the site...look at all these tasty cookies!!

I can say from my experience, before I joined here, I spent several months reading years worth of posts on quite a few different slot forums. There is still one that I look around regularly that I did not join.
The ratio of guests to users looks pretty normal for most forums I have spent time on over the years.
I guess that some of the “Guests online” are members of the forum who only login when they have something to say.
Many browsers offer an option to delete cookies automatically or do that as a standard (DuckDuckGo). So you would have to logen every time when you open the browser and visit the website. In DuckDuckGo there is an option to add a website to a whitelist if you want to stay logged in.

OK, disagree.

What is the point of deleting cookies automatically, where does it get you, I don't understand as things will only break, that's how cookies, session state and the Internet works (for 25+ yrs)?

From a privacy perspective, you can stay logged out and view/use services for most content on SF. But as soon as you logon to comment and actually use member services (such as posting etc.), BOOM the cookies are back so you're back to square one?. If you suppress certain cookies in your privacy setting in your browser of choice you will most likely break stuff if you don't know what you're doing?

So again, what's the point other than a false sense of security?

If you use DuckDuckGo browser for web searches don't believe the hype, it's NOT A VPN but trades on the fact it uses HTTPS and no logs? (Lets gloss over the fact that their search results are, being kind, awful in this day and age).

The fundamental difference between DuckDuckGo vs. Google is that the former doesn’t track, store, or share your information.

So it doesn't write logs.....you can still be tracked easily, if HTTPS stopped tracking then google would already have folded...

Know your enemy...

The new format is actually better at letting you log in silently as it states on line members may include hidden visitors ,the old format actually gave the number of hidden visitors.
I am not here, you cannot see me.
