It is abit misleading sorry.

We are considering allowing Advertisers but not Sponsors, on the top level of the site ( not in yet but explained in the same post).
The Forum itself will remain Advert / Sponsor free.
There is a large difference between an Advertiser and a Sponsor.

More News on the Top page and its layout as we work it out - We are both new to this so please bear with us.

Inte' if you have a gripe with a Commercial place, you should be dealing with them directly first not on a Forum.

QUOTE (MrBugs @ 21 Sep 2003, 10:28 PM)...I thought this forum was going to be dealer free so people could say their feelings about any dealer.

I have no qualms about expressing my feelings about a brand or retailer - even if they advertise here. We too have freedom of speech and my right to say what I want can't be bought.

The advertisers will help finance the burden of the servers, bandwidth, certain software and technical effort required to run this board, but no way will they dictate what is said here.

I'm moving this to the About this Bulletin Board section, because it doesn't really constitute News. OK

Can I just add my weight to the message. There may be advertisers, but that won't dictate editorial policy and certainbly won't have any impact on what you can or can't say in a forum.

I work for a car company and we deal with newspapers and magazines all the time who say things we'd rather they didn't. But, if it's true or fairly expressed opinion, then we have no arguement. We either offer better products and service or learn to live with the critisim. I think it will be the same here.

For those who've been frustrated or confused by other forums (okay, SCI) I think it is fair to say SlotForum will be different.

I follow the view "Don't bite the hand that feeds you". I just hope that the forum can remain free and exercise "freedom of speech" at the same time. It is a fine line between advertising and sponsorship and I hope the people here can manage this without getting dragged into a conflict of interest predicament.

We hope so too. There are some interesting plans being discussed right now which I'm sure you'll appreciate.

QUOTE Does the fact that Wankel is a moderator carry any significance.

I don't know about significance but it's kinda scary don't ya think!

UKsqueezie, I'm not sure about "hammering". I guess we have to wait and see who puts their foot in their mouth and wiggles it around first and then see how grave the offence is. Someone opening a book? What odds am I being given here?

While free speech is to be promoted and defended nasty name calling sillyness has no place here and please God, we don't get a Back Alley added later. One exists elsewhere.
