Why have my payments been suspended

Anybody any idea why verticalscope or whatever have refused my PayPal payment for +membership?

Is "+" now free?

The PayPal system for recurring payments were cancelled when VS took over. No it isn't free. You need to use the new system to continue with membership. Click on the 'store' tab at the top of the page.

I said they had cancelled recurring payments under the old system not the use of PayPal altogether. You are signed up to the new system, received a renewal invoice and made a one-off payment. Tifosi is not and that is why his payment didn't go through.

OK Brian, thanks for this but what sort of an outfit are VerticalScope if they cannot communicate with long standing members and supporters of this forum?

I have a recurring payment and I think 'job done' and I have had NO contact from VerticalScope to tell me anything different.

Do I need 'swap shop' that badly or do I just save myself €15?

This is not a poke at you Brian, just frustration at a company that a) does not care about this community so have NOT carried out promised improvements and

Have no idea what good customer relations are...

They don't even communicate with the mods/admin so why should long-standing members be any different?

We have numerous issues with them over bits of the forum that don't work properly and they don't give a toss. We struggle on as best we can.

We would like to do away with Plus membership altogether but can't find a way to do it without penalising people who have already paid for it.

If you don't need the swapshop, the 10% Pendle's discount or the other minor benefits then don't join. The choice is always yours.

The terms and conditions of many institutions are always changing. Sometimes paid members lose out, sometimes they gain, but life moves on. If doing away with Plus is for the ongoing good of the forum, I think most Plus members would support the move.

I paid a new Plus membership on 4th January so have almost an entire year to "lose" if it were abandoned, but if by doing so it increased the use of swap-shop and made the forum a little more vibrant, I'd be happy with my loss and wouldn't feel penalised.

As this subject has come up - appreciate any more comments about closing plus and some losing out?? Possibly need the plus members to comment...... :)
I paid as I just thought supporting the forum was a good idea in spite of the fact that I don't buy any cars from Pendle ( the occasional headlight is about all) and have never looked at the swap shop.

Not sure I will bother renewing as they don't seem to give anything back and still try and insist on showing ads, even to Plus members. Hooray for ad blockers.
Let us be crystal clear about this - you are not supporting the forum by paying for Plus membership. Back in the days of private ownership the money was used to benefit the forum by providing competition prizes etc. but, under the current commercial ownership, the money just goes into their coffers and they give nothing back. It is just an extra revenue source for them with zero benefit to the forum as a whole.

The sole reason to be a Plus member is to take advantage of the listed benefits. If you think they are worth the fee then join, if not then don't.

Well I thought that at the time. I hadn't been a member that long. Times change as well as owners.

Just been thinking.. must do renewal, and now this. I never got a notice...
Well, if they can't be bothered to ask for money, I sure as hell ain't going to offer!

As an aside, do the mods think that there is any danger that they will dump the forum? I assume they are only into verticals for the dosh (what a stupid expression that is - verticals that is) Although I have now joined in over at Facebook, this is still my principal source of slot entertainment off the track.
I wouldn't worry Gordon.

As you say, they are in it for the dosh, and the forum is an asset, with a value. They would sell it to another owner rather than just dumping it.

Even if the worst should happen, if the forum closes, if no new owner is found, and there is no opportunity for us to take it over, we'd just start another forum. Us old slot guys don't give up easily, and it's not the name at the top of the website that's important. The value of this forum is you, and me, and all the other members here. We're a community. Grumpy and disfunctional at times no doubt, but nonetheless a family of sorts.

Rest assured we will make every effort to make sure that continues.

Gerald, your plus expired in March 2018 so a bit late to be thinking about renewing it. A renewal invoice was sent to the email address you have registered here on 28th February. If you didn't get it then it either went to your spam folder or your address has changed and you haven't updated your forum details.
