Polistil did produce a Wolf WR1 in its "Champion 175" series of late 1970s F1 cars, perhaps the best-looking of the various Poli ranges. There were 11 cars, including an ATS and a Copersucar (Fittipaldi) as well as the front-runners. The Wolf is the only one I have but the others look good in photos.
The motor was an archaic cube and, as usual on Polistils, the tyres were poor, but it was suggested on SF a while back that they ran well with Ortmann 35a rears.
Congrats on your Wolf build from the Scalextric Renault, Ian. Great work.

Just a postscript on the late 1970s Polistils, since this is a scratchbuilding thread: The bodies deserve mounting on a completely new chassis. They're smaller than some of the Scalextric F1s of the time, such as the over-size Ferrari T3 and the Renault, but they're about the same size as the original Scalex 312T and M23, which SF modifiers are continually keen on, and they're better proportioned.
These Polistils (Champion 175 series) have a sledge chassis which is easy to remove at the rear axle. Someone pointed out recently that the front of the Wolf is very low and that there isn't room for a conventional guide, but there are alternatives. Not much space farther back either, as the driver figure is quite deep, but there are some quite potent tiny motors around nowadays which should fit.
Someone has fitted a Ninco kart motor to the Polistil sledge chassis, but a full-scale new chassis, etc, would be interesting. Probably been done already, but I don't remember seeing one, so perhaps a little challenge to the chassis-builders.
