We are pleased to offer the opportunity to race your 2013 onwards Carrera or SCX DTM models on our popular International Track
this will take place Sunday 15th October 2017

Entries Now being accepted.

1. 2 Classes to race

Class 1
Any 1:32 scale SCX or Carrera DTM car as raced full size between 2013 to 2016
Fitted with replacement 3D printed chassis
Lightweight interior

Class 2
Any 1:32 scale SCX or Carrera DTM car as raced full size between 2013 to 2016.
Box Standard as manufacturer built.
Only allowable modiciation is to replace the wheels and tyres the trued and glued to allow them to race on wood successfully.

2. Heats will be run on Wolves international track wood with smooth sandtex finish, run over 3 minute heat duration, 4 heats per driver.

The total distance will determine the qualification for the finals.
Finals will be formatted as step ladder type.
Winner of the previous final progressing to the next.

3. No Magnets in any class or car are allowed.

4. All plastic model cars manufactured are eligible to race

5. Modifications allowed are as listed in below only.

a) Model Cars
All bodies and chassis have to be plastic and remain as manufactured Body top and Chassis must match, but lightweight interiors are allowed correctly fitted into model for Class 1 only.
They are all required to be 1:32 in scale.

Class 1 DTM + 3D Chassis
Model Specification
Body Shell SCX or Carrera.
2013 to 2016 Carrera and SCX DTM
Standard or lightweight interior only.
Chassis - Shapeways 3D Printed Chassis, Sloting Plus Chassis, Scaleauto Chassis, on eBay Telaio Chassis-Auto-Car-DTM-GT3-Carrera from Italy or any third party developed to fit DTM models

No one off home made 3D printed versions.
Motor Mounts - Any Slot It or NSR Type Motor Mounts
Free Choice - Braids, Lead Wire, Body/Motor mount Screws
Weight additions allowed. (105gram max weight for models ).

Class 2
Model Specification
Body Shell SCX or Carrera.
2013 to 2016 Carrera and SCX DTM
Standard interior only.
Chassis - Standard as manufactured
Motor Mounts - Standard as manufactured
Free Choice - Braids, Lead Wire, Body/Motor mount Screws
Weight additions allowed. (105gram max weight for models ).

b) Guide Blades:

Class 1
Any guide blade that fits model. (Subject to class allowances). All can be replaced if broken. No guide repositioning is allowed.

Class 2
guide blade that is fitted to original model. All can be replaced if broken. No guide repositioning is allowed.

No other mods or shims would be allowed in this event.

SCX guides do seem to have excessive "slap"

c) Axles:

Class 1
No restriction on axles,
Class 2
As come with manufactured car.
SCX cars front stub axles must remain but hubs and tyres can be changed, rear axle hubs and tyres can be changed again the hubs as class 1.

d) Crown gears/Spur gears:

Class 1
Any manufacturers gearing can be used. Ground clearance of 1.0mm will be required as a minimum requirement to be eligible.
Class 2
As fitted to the manufactured car
Gearing must remain as the standard ratios on both types Carrera 27/9 and SCX 27/9 slot it or similar can be used as replacements.

e) Pinion gears:

Class 1
Pinion gears are allowed to be upgraded/replaced-using gears having 8 to 13 teeth brass, steel or plastic.
Class 2
Pinion gears are as fitted to the original manufactured car.
Gearing must remain as the standard ratios on both types Carrera 27/9 and SCX 27/9 slot it or similar can be used as replacements.

f) Wheel hubs:

Any manufacturers hubs to be used (Hubs must be to scale.).
Alloy hubs 17" only will be allowed. (No F1 Hubs are allowed)

(17mm minimum overall from wheel centre.)

(17" hubs use NSR 5004 with the tyres NSR 5230 or 5215 or slot it equivalent
17" All as indicated on the Product labelling)

If you want to use the stock wheels not a problem.

Class 2 SCX cars you can fit NSR hubs on the rear axles of the scx. All you have to do was make sure the axle hole was clean and free from swarf .

Carrera cars the front and rear axles, hubs and tyres can be changed. For respective large hubs and tyres as class 1

g) Tyres:

Any manufactures rubber tyres only to be used as long as they are to scale and do not alter the appearance of the car.
Fronts can be Low Profile Z Zero grip

No Silicone tyres to be used.

No Slot it F tyres to be used.

No F1 Hubs and Tyres to be used

No Tyre warming prior to immediate racing allowed, including truing directly before racing.
Tyres will also be checked for dryness, being dry at the start line, offenders will be asked to dry their tyres prior to the race start.
Tyre treatments are allowed but must not leave a residue on the track, any found to do so will be required to change car or tyres immediately
No MB Slot treatment to be used as it removes track surface like paint stripper. Notice:- Gloves and Eye protection are suggested to be used when using potential harmful fluids, please adhere to the instructions and avoid skin contact. WSCC do not take any responsibility for any ill health caused by using such substances. Participants and helpers use any substance at their own risk. Children under 16 are required to be supervised at all times.

h) Repairing Cars:

2 cars maximum are allowed per event per driver.
Cars may be passed as common entrants for 2 or more drivers. But must be clear to the scrutineer about who is running the car prior to the racing start.

I) Motors:

DTM (Carrera and SCX) Class 1
25K limit at 12v labelled motors only (unwrappered motors are not allowed).

DTM (Carrera and SCX) Class 2
Fitted to standard manufactured cars

j) Magnets

Magnets are not allowed in any class.

k) Chassis fixings

Loose chassis are allowed, fixing screws must be secured via tape over screw holes etc to prevent track short circuits, covering of motor pod screws is also required if the pod is loosened.

L) Motor Mounts

All to be plastic no metal mounts allowed in any class

6. 1mm of wheel width maximum is allowed exposed in
closed arch models to the widest part of the wheel arch however.

7. Both Classes will be run over 3 minute heats dependant on
numbers attending.
Finals will either be run over time or 20 laps with the A final being
over 25 laps, or run over 3 minutes upto the A final.

8. Types of Car:

Carrera Mercedes CLK, Audi A5 and BMW M3 BMW M4
SCX Mercedes CLK, Audi A5

9. Scrutineering
Only 2 cars max per entrant can be eligible for scrutineering per class
Cars may be passed as common entrants for 2 or more drivers. But must be clear to the scrutineer about who is run the car prior to the racing start.

10. Body Parts
All cars must run with all the intended manufacturer parts fitted as sold as far as possible.
Mirrors and aerials are the only parts we would not consider against the rules.
Spoilers must be fitted at the start of each race I.e. race grid for each race each car.
Reinforcing of spoilers and deemed weak/damaged body areas are allowed but must be carried in a manner not to detract from the appearance of the model.
Any questions on this must be dealt with on an individual basis, as different models may have different weak areas.
Class 1 models can run with lightweight interior and driver figure.
No cutting/modifying of chassis/bodies is allowed for any reason e.g. to make a non-standard motor fit.

Class 2 Carrera cars polarity switch wiring can be disconnected and the small printed circuit board removed from the car but the wiring must be reconnected using the terminal blocks in the car.

Class 2 SCX Car lights can be immobilised but must remain in the car. If the same car shell is being used for both classes then the lights must be still fitted when used in class 2.

Class 1 SCX Car lights can be removed
Race car number visible as recommended but not essential.
Chassis and Body must match each other, 3rd party chassis to be passed off by the scutineering committee before use.

11. No changing of cars during race, no driver intervention during race I.e. marshalling of his/her own car (when marshalling numbers allow).
If a driver "marshal's" his or her car during a heat then a penalty at the end of race will be incurred.

12. Any irregular action or infringement of a rule will incur a penalty. The penalty will be reducing the drivers lap score to last place in the heat and being 1 lap behind the final placed driver (unless the driver is already the final placed then a further 1 lap will be deducted as a penalty from the distance he/she has covered during the heat).

13. Weighting of cars will be allowed. Excessive weight cars can be requested to have some weight removed (105 grams max car weight).

14. Any car losing a wheel during a race must retire from the race as soon as it is noticed by a marshal. Car cannot continue at all in the heat.

15. Race Control and Scrutineer decisions are final.

16. If anything you want to do to your model is not mentioned in any of the above rules then the easiest rule is DON'T DO IT!

18. Race Hand Throttles
Any Hand throttles not previously used at the club must be checked prior to use on the track to prevent damage to the power pack or track.

19. Event Timetable
Saturday 15th Open for practice
10.00-16.00 Subject to availability of person to open up venue this is to be clarified nearer the event time.
(£2.00 per person attending free tea and coffee all day)
Sunday 16th October
8.15 Doors Open
9.45 Deadline for registering (anyone expecting to be late can notify Race control and their name can be entered).
10.00 Scrutineering and entry complete.
10.15 to 10.30 (sharp) Racing commences.
16.00 Prize presentation

Note of warning

We have had 5 slotting plus chassis failures
BMW M3 to the rear of the NSR motor pod and the recess for the rear wheel( basically the thinnest section of the chassis at its weakest point) happened from a rear shunt.
Carrera Audi guide post failure on 2 chassis due to the rear of the guide snagging on the chassis where there was no clearance.
SCX Mercedes front axle left side retainer where the printing process seems to delaminate, one was spotted during the first build and one broke off during practice locked the front axle which tipped the car off into the barrier and broke the front splitter off, so 2 separate but the same failure.
So please check your slotting plus chassis

Hi Ian,
not been to Wolves in an age, I've got a couple of these, I'll let you know which class later, I just need to source a chassis depending on what I can find
Count me in, then you'll have someone to take the rip out of .........
