OK I'll have a go at saying one way a world championship can be established.
The International Slot Racing Association's World Championship evolved from an earlier European Championship.
The European Championships were held each year in a different European country and attracted entries from a number of European countries. A couple of decades ago they were regular attracting competitors from other continents, only then did they adopt the World Championship title. Not only the competitors but the events themselves are now held in different continents, for example this year's championship will be on the third different continent in 3 years.
Rather like in full size motor racing, the international competition comes first, only then does it become a World Championship.

Championships start some where.
Also you have never seen this event heard of one like it nor probably will you ever.
As far as I know, yours is the only slot racing event supporting that Greyhound sanctuary in Exeter.
I've seen plenty of slot racing event supporting other charities.
I've seen every other aspect of your event many times at other slot racing events which were created long before your first annual event.
I'm happy to join with the other contributors to wish you every success, it sounds like an event that deserves it. I doubt you'd receive anything other that encouragement (and congratulations when it's successful) if you told it how it is.
