Here it is, worlds smallest digital wireless chip for F1 cars, just 12x8mm!!!
Another world first by ScorpiusWireless!

Yes it will be going into production.

The above is single sided board if it went double sided then size would be 9x8...

Wow Ade that is great news. I can see a lot of applications for a chip this size.

That's really small!

What's the functionalities compare to the existing chip and the other one in development?

I thought Injectorman said he won't communicate about product development until he has proto that work.

Spotted elsewhere online, It's straight DC , no multi ptotocol, accelerometer, bemf, lights, or current sensing, however it does have full telemetry and BT...

Quote... <World's Smallest Wireless F1 Chip.>

An existential question... does a design have to exist in physical form with demonstrable functionality to deserve the recognition of being a worldfirst...? or is an engineering design sufficient to make the claim? I am relatively new to the world of social media claims so will be content whatever the reasoned outcome. Please clarify...

Here are the specs for the chips size is now confirmed as 9.4 x 5.0 x 3.7 all sizes in millimetres, there are a total of 26 components ..

The chip will be Scorpius wireless only, it features Bluetooth, telemetry, PEARL, and Ultima

First order due in 4 weeks and the first of many new exciting firsts from Scorpius due in the coming months

It would be appreciated if we can swerve the usual trolling , sniping and size comparison techniques as I think most of us are past puberty now ..

Hi Guys,
So heres the first pass on the world first nano chip ie 10.0x5.0mm or less.
Application: Scorpius Wireless only.
Photo of new F1 chip shown next to current generation of Scorpius car decoder for comparison.

It features the Nordic nRF52832 wafer chip.
Dongle and app connect.
Full wireless telemetry
Best line system ULTIMA
Anti collision
3A power mosfets
DC only.
Size 9.4x5.0 of 47.0sq.mm
Thickness 2.9mm
Volume 136.3 cubic mm
Double sided.
Component count 28 on board.
Gold plated pins.

Is smaller possible? A 7.5x4.0mm is possible, dependent on current trials.

Progress: Programming and firmware stage.

Project name: Scorpius F1 Nano car decoder.
Date of F1 project commencement: Nov 15th 2020
Today Monday 25th Jan is day 42.
Specification documents: 1 day.
Design time: 2 days by John Huberts.
BOM documentation and schematics 1 day.
Manufacture time 28 days as promised by manufacturer.
Transport 4 days.
We are still on summer break back early February 2021.

Note board is 9.4mm long but snap off bits due to manufacturing requirements need to be filed.
Verniers show 9.47 but board is actually 9.4 long.
Still a lot of work to go, sometimes a new PCB must be made. All part of the game.
Some of this development willl go into the Gen II chip.

This project is not only a commercial project but also a FUN project for all concerned.😊

Another WORLD FIRST for Team Scorpius!😊🤓🥳

Ok so day 45.
John receives chips from me so 2 days lost there in mail.
John uses our custom made programming board and loads the parts and uses the infrared oven to fuse.
John then designs and prints a 3D packer surround to hold the chip firmly in place.
It needs to be accurate to within 0.1mm maybe even 0.05mm to get 100% contact every time.
This board is tiny and the solder pads are around 1mm dia.
Once its programmed it can have wires added.
John flashes chip so all future upgrades can be RF
All this in 1 day. John is a machine.
The firmware still needs telemetry, controller pairing, Ultima Etc added.
Once finished we can ship back to our factory in China so the staff can program and test in house.
Below a photo of the nano programming jig by Scorpius.

And then off to our beta testers in USA, Germany and UK
Dont get too excited. First passes on this type of development usually include one @&* up. We will see.
