As you can see 50 places have been allowed for, there is a possibility that some Wye Valley club members may run their stages on the Saturday to accommodate expected high demand, please do not request a place unless you know you can come - this is the final event of the year and the event will go later into the day because we will be producing the final championship results as well as the event resutls and of course awarding prizes etc.

Please reserve your place as quickly as possible and let others know about the event.

For the benefit of anyone who has not tackled the SRGB watersplash before, Bills comment about it being a 'model ruiner' is unfounded, none of my cars has ever been damaged or ruined nor has anyone elses as far as I`m aware.

I remember Bill was reluctant to run through the splash years ago as he was running a cardboard interior in an old Zodiac, so elected to take a maximum time of 180 seconds for the stage for failing to attempt or complete it.

When doing the splash in the past all I`ve done is shaken the water out of the cars and then run the motors up to spin any water droplets out with no problems.

In fact the tyres will have been cleaned by the water ready for your next stage and years ago someone running an old RX powered Scaly Mini benefited from the motor dip when the water shifted the crud and it ran better all day.

We will have on hand, a piece of live track to spin and warm up the motors, a hair dryer, paper towels and if necessary WD40.

Just as an aside I`ve been through a river crossing in Hafren Forest on the Severn Valley National Stages in our Mark Two Escort when the water came in through the doors and half filled the footwells - happy days

I stand by my comments
Water and Slot cars don't mix...de-ionised or otherwise. In fact real cars and water don't mix!
I have replaced more 'real' wheel bearings since the 'flood' events started about 5-6 years ago than I had in the previous 15 Years!
As for not doing them (slot models) any harm, I put an Spirit 205 away after a 'submersion' in the 'water splash' all cleaned up and dried off. A couple of months later, went to check it prior to use and found the magnesium wheels corroded so badly as to be solid on the axles! the motor was also tight.
Gareth's pictures show all except 1, cars taking modest depths of water very quickly, only the 'thing' disapearing into a bog appears to in 'deep' water!!
Can we have an alternative 'dry' stage for the non swimers please?
Bill.

Good luck to all in the final round

Its great to see the championship going from strength to strength for another year.

Wish I was there to defend the Classic title but best of luck to all chasing for a title, points, placing or finish.

Hope to see you all in 2013!

Regards

Well I for one have never tried a "water splash" on a Rally Stage before so it will be something new and different to try. As it does not do harm to the majority of cars I cannot see why some moan about it, (I might change my view after of course!).

After all it is the same for everybody competing and adds to the variety. It could be worse, you could have the Ninco raid track drop from the bar like Farnham into the water spash followed by a cocoa powder corner after! Now that's a thought for our IOM night stage..........

Not long to go now boys........

Spangy,
Its OK, I don't need to defend my Rally credentials.
One rather interesting Irony is the last time we ran the 'dread' water splash at Aber' I had one of, if not the fastest time off the day on it! using my venerable old Cartix 4 wd Hyundai....but being quick on a stage does not mean you have to like it!
cheers Bill
