My dad said that I could use the garage for a permanant slot layout!

I came up with this as a plan:

The black area is the pitlane/parc ferme.

What do you think?

I'm excited, I have to buy another 13 peices of track, which is annoying, because track comes in packs of 2 or 4. I need another 3 or 5 peices of whatever. Ah well.....

Great plan LMP! A nice, simple fast looking track with technical parts too; a bus stop (bottom of the pic) and a chicane before the tight hairpin (top of your plan).

Like the layout a lot Gary - if it were me though I'd try and put the pits on the main straight - looks a bit tight going under the bridge if you're going to add buildings too.

Still, thanks for pointing that out, I'm sure my bridge building skills would cope with something less complicated than a declining turn - just so i can squeeze more stuff underneath the flyover. It may well be easier to put them on the other side of that straight - thats more in the middle of the flyover. Thanks for that though - its got me thinking

If I were you I would skip the bridge.
Instead after the first right-hand corner turn left, then go round to the other side of your bridge and turn left to the backside of the pits.
Split the bridge in two and get some more challenging corners!
Anyone can go fast on a straight, but can you handle the cars in tight corners?

Thanks for your suggestion, but I am happy with that layout. I want the track for two things, to test my cars for club racing, and to have the odd race against freinds. If the curcuit were too demanding, any oponents not used to slot racing (ie all of them

) wouldn't be able to cope too well with the tricky corners.
The flyover is also designed to keep the lanes fairly equal without the use of annoying crossovers for when I race freinds etc.

That said, I have tried to incorperate some challenging corners that will test the grip etc of non magnet cars such as the chicane in the top of the pictrue and the hairpins, one of which has a sublte but (hopefully) difficult kink.

I'm testing track layouts for at permanent installation so it would be nice if you could post some reports and pictures so we can follow your project!!...and I could learn from your experience

I'll definately have some buildings there, I prefer the vintage style scalex / mmrc buildings such as the pit kiosks etc rather than the modern garages and buildings made by scalex card or SRA. Thats just personal preference though, the SRA buildings at the club look great, its just for some reason, the older style stuff just looks 'right'. Maybe its that 1990 scalex catalogue I read every five minutes when I was 6

I might do some landsaping, depends how much free space I have on the tables. I don't want to squeeze hills in just for the sake of it. Trees are a sure bet though, I'm sure Jon's 'toilet brush' method will save the pennies as well as keeping me amused ill college starts midway through september.

I'll continue to post pictures on this thread as me and my Dad make progress.

I think you've made the right decision in having a figure-of-eight. It makes both lanes equal in length and saves having cross-overs which can cause accidents.
