Most motor racing folk look back to their favourite eras from time to time because we have brains that store memories. Like all 'disciplines' motor sport, in all its forms, has gone through highs and lows, but even during troughs, we can often reflect on something that has been stored in our minds with affection.
As usual your views and images will always be of great interest. And thanks.
Inverted rad did not catch on ,Poppy Cock It did in the states on probably the worlds most famous hot rod the 32 ford ,there were many other American cars that featured that type of rad grill but the ford is the most well known
I recon if you got a modern f1 4 inches of the ground, given all the composite materials used it would explode coming down and finish up with only a driver and engine left ,as carbon fibre ect doesn't take a whack like metal, you only have to look at how much shrapnel there is from just a wing end
The roads are the same size it's peoples cars that are to bloody big ,come on admit it who really needs a bleeding Range Rover, and I'm not knocking just them I have a pet hate for every suv/4x4 there the vehicular equivalent of a woman's Russian shot putter, not only are they big there big and always ugly ,and if you get to drive them which I do as a valeter ,are usually a flaming liability as they handle like a small outbuilding, rant over .and on that bombshell good night
A street map with no street names, that would be just a piece of paper with lots of lines on it hmmm which line to follow, for years people have been saying follow the straight and narrow ,they must have had a copy of your map
You gotta love these pics ,of a world that at least then .didn't take everything so bloody seriously, and people wonder why everyone has a soft spot for vintage racing, and the way it was back then,I think this picture tells you everything you need to know
Trisha just goes to show, you might not be able to polish a turd but you can make it quick,a racing car from a moskovitch who have thought it or bothered for that matter
If the government gets its way we will be driving cars Like that soon enough, cause with the expansion of these utterly ridiculous 20 mph speed limits it’s only a matter of time before some office Waller decides 15 is better than 20 then 10 then back to having someone in front with a red flag and there y have the motoring full circle, you see if I ain’t right 😤
You don’t really think that the green brigade actually gives any thought to the ridiculous ideas they dream up do you.they still think the electric car revolution will be powered by pixie dust.instead of nuclear which to supply just our current needs as they stand today.is our only real option. let alone what will be required come 2035 when everyone will have to go electric or walk ,just you wait and see it’ll be like the lampoon Christmas vacation.everyone will get home from work plug in there cars and you’re lights will go out you see if I’m wrong,oh you won’t be able to your lights will be off cause next door has plugged in again 🤪
Build quality, when have you ever seen an accountant that knows how to use a spanner, the reasons the allegro and all of the other Leyland cars were a bit carp was thanks predominately down to the unions, as they were always on strike and in the uk ,can’t say for other countries ,the majority of industries that were run buy a union now no longer exist ,coal steel cars motor bikes ect ,the main problem with any union is as soon as you allow the workforce to dictate how much you have to pay them your doomed.doors closed game over so think upon the allegro the next time the Loony lefties ask for your vote
Rust was on the options list, you could order as much or as little as you wanted, but it made no difference as to how much you actually got as they were all rot boxes
Friend of mine had an Alfasud , cloverleaf,we named it the disprin, for those who have never heard of one it’s a water soluble headache treatment, the important part being water soluble as in 40 years in the motor trade I’ve never seen a car rot to death so quickly, every time it rained the rust got bigger, from brand new to scrap,in 3 years ,but It was bloody quick though
The majority of early American motorcycle racing took place predominantly on board tracks , just look up some on you tube ,you had to have whats politely know as big balls to do it .it was eventually outlawed as too dangerous,ah can am is real racing ,very few rules ,you build it you race it shame a lot more racing doesn’t revisit it to see how it should be done
