Your Golden Epoch?

Most motor racing folk look back to their favourite eras from time to time because we have brains that store memories. Like all 'disciplines' motor sport, in all its forms, has gone through highs and lows, but even during troughs, we can often reflect on something that has been stored in our minds with affection.

As usual your views and images will always be of great interest. And thanks.

A few memory joggers below.

Anyone building a slot model of Rosemeyer's car today would, presumably, have a difficult decision as to whether the swastika should be included, therefore. Historical accuracy versus evil symbol.
I don't think so. Sourcing some swastikas might be problematic. Did Airfix make a 1/32 Me-109?

I can't believe anyone would be concerned about a model electric car with a swastikas on it. I meant a General Lee has a confederate flag.
A childhood friend of mine has the only Parnell Challenger. In black and white for vintage look.

Aurora made a 1/32 replica.

Hill climb car. I love the dual wheels.

Abarth

That is Denistoun Poore in his dark green Alfa 8C. He won the British Hillclimb Championship in 1950. After Poore's death, the Alfa and its transporter were auctioned in completely original, untouched condition.
I had an inkling to build a Austin Seven Twin Cam with twin wheels but never did. Not even sure two wire wheel can be mounted that close.
It sure did, and I was there to watch it arrive.
Wasn't there something about it passing over Paris as it executed a U turn to line up for landing.
I like the idea of the duck sandwich, just leave out the chutney.
May i order a cheese and Branston one?

That's an intriguing transmission system.

Did they have a diff at the forward end of the propshafts, or were there two diffs, one at the end of each propshaft, or no diff at all, or even a split rear axle?
According to my surfing the Type A had two engines, two gearboxes and two drive shafts. So the Type B dual drive shafts appear to be a carry over?
Power-boat racing at Bristol docks getting on for 50 years ago. I'd almost forgotten about this branch of motor sport. Wonder if it still exists. View attachment 276577 View attachment 276578
Now this is getting weird? From yesterday? Different forum

I have the same memory from a F1 Powerboat race as the boats exited the pits and went under a small bridge. I could feel the bridge vibrate as they went under.
Also remember that as the boats, at speed, entered the hairpin turn at the pit end of the track was the only time I have heard a boat on overrun.

As for cameras!
Sir David A said that throughout his career cameras got smaller and smaller until the advent of 3D and then they started getting bigger again.

Designed by a young Ferdinand Porsche, an early Lohner-Porsche used by the London fire brigade an awfully long time ago, and my similar (but not the same) Matchbox model also made an 'awfully long time ago'. View attachment 277352
Does it go Tshhhh when it stops. If you watch small children playing the whoo-whooo sound is secondary to the stopping.
