Chevron, a much underated brand of racing car in my opinion Trish, love seeing the old girls at their home circuit of Oulton park, equally underated was the European 2 litre sportscar championship of the period.

Here's a case where big cohones are required but could be a liability too. A case of ingenuity over imagination. There will be at least 1500 bhp going through that axle, so don't think too hard or you will have nightmares.

Keith Duckworth gave a lecture in the early eighties at a swish new museum extension opening in Stoke on Trent, managed to get a ticket, very enjoyable but he'd lost me after about five minutes.

Talking engines there's a great vid on YT by Harry's garage, posted about a week ago, he visited JCB to look at progress on the new Hydrogen engine they are developing,very impressive and well worth watching.

Many thanks for the Roscoe FJ film, Mark. Absolutely wonderful. I went to most of those events, and quickly became completely corrupted. The vid footage is exactly how I remember it all. Simple and beautiful cars, nice people, no BS, dreadful public lavatories, cheese and tomato sandwiches, and a terrific day out. Oh, and a fiver admission ticket per car.

Great days and far removed from today's carp.

I had a feeling it would spark some memories for you, Laurence - we were lucky to witness such times - I’ll post a few more of Mr.Roscoe’s productions, as they all feature some fabulous footage sometimes served up with suitably silly commentary 😀

Only rarely have I enjoyed old vids as much as these. I don't even mind the accompanying xylophone music nowadays. Gosh, what memories. Thank you, Mark. A real treat for me.

We are fortunate than many of the car companies in the fifties and sixties had very competent pr and publicity departments, films of rallying and Le mans are widely available, Rootes, Ford, BMC, Standard Triumph to name but a few, frequently featuring Biggles Baxter on commentary.

The other excellent period films are from the John Tate collection, he was a Tate and Lyle Tate, so 16 mm film equipment gave excellent results, he ran an Aston road car so as well as the large international meetings he filmed at VSCC and Aston clubbies, well worth digging out.
