Most motor racing folk look back to their favourite eras from time to time because we have brains that store memories. Like all 'disciplines' motor sport, in all its forms, has gone through highs and lows, but even during troughs, we can often reflect on something that has been stored in our minds with affection.

As usual your views and images will always be of great interest. And thanks.

A few memory joggers below.

The two photographs appear to show two different cars, unless end-plates were added to the rear wing during the day . . .
And why are the exhausts so high in that second photo?
And why does it have BRM on the gearbox . . .
Because the photo of the rear of a car is a BRM and not a March...

A Porsche feast, Keith. Many thanks for the clip. Love the racket from the modern Pink Pig, and lovely to see the 356 prototype again, too.
An old chum of mine drove to Gaydon last weekend for the do celebrating 60 years of the E-Type (XKE). Below, The Autocar's original road test of the car in 1961.

Marvellous Fiat, Dave. Thanks for posting the pics. They're even faster when driven by Italians.

We're kindred spirits, Dave. I'm slightly more into upgrading 50s small saloons for use in modern traffic conditions. I currently have a Standard 10 on the lift in my workshop being fitted with a mix of Spitfire 1500 & Dolomite running gear.

Love your little Abarth rep. My favourite slot car of the many I have is an SCX Abarth 1000TC. Great fun to chuck around on any track.

An old oval racing mate of mine that used to run the Slotstox club in Aldershot (think he still does), had a great relationship with MRRC Jersey. Their chassis used to be a sledge based on the Johnson 222 can with axle bracket, and a guide tongue soldered to the front of the can. He told me he once contacted John on the off chance that they may still have some 222s laying around. A few days later a box turned up with 70 odd in!

Glad to have you here with us.

the 222 was a good motor---- we had a lot of random motors in the stock we bought and I am glad MRRC was helpful to your friend---we always tried to be approachable but John is the contact most remember as he was the man on the phone-------- it was a shame we had to go the the S can for quantity production, they have way to much power for the cars actually--------- Your Standard sounds like a fabulous build---- will be a blast to drive I'm sure----
Hesketh and Hunt during happy days.

Rudi Uhlenhaut giving press demonstrations of the 230SL at Montroux, 1963. On the same day, Mike Parkes was testing a 250GT Ferrari, and was just 0.2secs quicker than Uhlenhaut in the much less powerful Mercedes.

Riding a scooter without a crash hat in the shadow of the leaning tower of Pisa! In terms of safety, I imagine such activity comes pretty close to taunting a king cobra at the 'bitey' end.
