My mother could not sleep when I was out at night but she could hear my Downton Cooper S coming from at least a mile away and then she could drop off.

Fab looking car, Kevan. Never seen a slot version. I'm probably wrong but slot cars from the rejuvenated CanAm series appear to be thin on the ground.

The 'Sha-kee' had something to do with the chap responsible for the Howmet if I recall correctly. Will have to refresh my memory.
this era of can am was mainstay of BSCRA sports racing for some years , vac form of course.

Thank you. I know little of BSCRA. The organisation holds events a long way from my geographical radar, and I tend, therefore, to take little interest. Technically interesting cars, and very fast I believe, but I seem to recall that many bear little resemblance to 1:1 racing cars.

A unique Porsche the Type 645 was built in 1956. A swb car it was intended as a successor to the 550, but things didn't go to plan. It was quick but twitchy and quickly became known as Mickey Mouse.

After Richard von Frankenberg's accident at the AVUS the project was shelved in favour of the 718 RSK. Remarkably, von Frankenberg survived his AVUS ordeal, while the car had the good grace to destroy itself in a public car park.
