Most motor racing folk look back to their favourite eras from time to time because we have brains that store memories. Like all 'disciplines' motor sport, in all its forms, has gone through highs and lows, but even during troughs, we can often reflect on something that has been stored in our minds with affection.

As usual your views and images will always be of great interest. And thanks.

A few memory joggers below.

A rare colour pic of the old man giving young lions a driving lesson at the 1957 German GP. Jenks maintained that Fangio's victory was one of three great drives of the Twentieth Century. The other two were Moss's 1955 Mille Miglia win, and Vic Elford's victory on the 1968 Targa.

For the Rover BRM I was thinking Ferrari 250LM for the rear. The headlights make me think of a Porsche 935 with the flat front.
Good suggestions, chaps. I agree with you, Matthew, about the Rover-BRM resembling the 250/275LM. The shape of their windscreens, and the rear views are very similar.

Extraordinarily, perhaps, the front elevation of the Rover puts me in mind of the late Steve O'Rourke's green 512BB Ferrari Le Mans car.

Another picture of Michael May's 550 Porsche in 1956. The wing worked so well that it was banned. A slot version just had to be built.

Except they're a bit lacking in numbers of cylinders.................... :)
Berlin GP, 1962, at the AVUS. Fiat-Abarths almost as far as you can see.

Gijs van Lennep at Watkins Glen, 1971. He stopped, fathomed an electrical prob, twiddled this and that, got back in the car and drove to second place.
