New version is up 1.9.1.3. The penalty feature and the new firmware changes should now be working as planned, with the ability to assign a penalty during a Start button track call.

I hope in the next week or two to have a version up that includes sector times in the results. I realize very few of you (Ed) are making use of the sector times, but for me they are pretty cool. They are included in the results files as of v 1.9.1.1, I just haven't included them in the visible information. I am completely rewriting the results window display, and I think everyone- even those who aren't using sector times- will find it an improvement.

0.

The app connect is fine, and some of the aftermarket apps that use it have made great strides. Even the Carrera app has become very useable. It really depends what you are looking for. If you want lap times and simple races, and you are happy with a tablet sized screen (or have a large screen capable of mirroring your phone/tablet near the track) the bluetooth device will likely fill your needs. If you want a more feature rich RMS with full driver, car, and track databases; rotations, penalties, race events, season long championships with multiple scoring options; in race speed and brake adjustments, etc., etc., then you will probably want a PC cable and likely want to try some of the RMS options available.

New version is up. v1.923 has a new results display which includes sector timing in the results. Even if you aren't using sector timing, I think the new results screen is still a big improvement. It's easier to use while being more flexible. Also improves the printout, and makes use of driver images as well as car images in your database.

It also includes the ability to sort car database screens by best lap time, rather than alphabetically. This can be toggled on the main car database screen, and the current setting is carried through to the Car/Driver assignment screen and to the track's best lap times screen.

v1.931 is up.

Now displays purple sector times for the current heat on the race screen. Also shows the fastest race wide lap for the heat. This sacrifices display of the pace car's lap times when using sector timing. You can turn off sector display (as before) and still record the sector times in the results- this will let you see the pace car's lap times. But I'm not sure why you would want to do that.

You also now have the option to turn off sector timing altogether- even with lap counters still plugged in. This is just in anticipation of the new sector timing tracks. While it's easy enough to unplug a lap counter, it isn't always so simple to remove a straight track from your layout.

Next up is a slight rework of the race screen when using sector timing. I want to get the pictures of the cars and the drivers back on screen.

There's a new release on the board. v1.935

This one has two noticeable new features.

1. The sound system will now use Windows' text to speech engine for driver and car names. No need to record and save your own files if you don't want to. Can be turned off, as old hardware may have a tough time keeping up. You can select from Windows' available voices. Make sure you place the soundstr.txt file from the zip in the program's home folder!

2. The race screen display has been changed for both sector time users and those not using sectors. The text on any panel now re-sizes dynamically to ensure it will always fit, and the screen rotates through driver and car images. Shows car image and driver display name, driver image and car display name, both images, and, finally, just the driver name. If one or both images are not assigned, it adjusts accordingly. For users w/o sector timing, an additional column of information is displayed. No need to choose between median lap time and time-to-leader. Both are now on screen at all times.

It also fixes a bug re: the improper display of saved speed/brake/tank values when editing a single car's information in the database.

Had a request on another forum:

QUOTE (Mattias;957398).....Is it possible to set the display of the cars and drivers to not cycle, but rather to constantly display, say the car picture and the name of the driver?

Image

Done. v1.936
Select the views you want the screen to cycle through. Pick all or just one or any combination. If you select none, you'll get driver name only.

I cant seem to get the spacebar to work? We run the 30352 cu. but I am unsure what ver. it is or how to go about finding out what ver. it is? Any help guys would be greatly appreciated .

It has to be >329. Any version that ends in 330 or above will let you use the space bar function. Depending on where you are, it may be that the only way to update your firmware is to buy a Carrera Appconnect device, and then Carrera's tablet software will update your CU. In the U.S. and Canada, you can also send the CU back to Carrera of America in New Jersey, and they will update it for you. Even if you're in the U.S., buying the Appconnect device is not that expensive, and you don't have to wait on shipping.

Okay I see that now. Unfortunately ours is 5327. Thank you for the information. We are in the states, Boston, which is close to New Jersey I don't think we'll be sending it in for an update. Maybe I'll consider the app connect.

We still love Hssrms....

Mrflippant... I still need the app connect for that correct?

Yes. The android (or iOS) app communicates through the AppConnect device. So you can use an appropriate phone or tablet for the update, but you still need the Carrera hardware device.

Bruce, wonderful news while playing more with the software this morning we realized under the tracks section in the database tab we did not have "enable power control" and "used spacebar start button will be shift-space" checked off and now the spacebar is working. Don't know how and don't know why since we have ver. 5327 on the cu ....
but it is awesome!

Question, we can't seem to get the sector timing working. I believe we have all of the correct settings on. Do we need a piece of equipment? What are we missing?
