Anyone know how to set this up. I have been struggling for the better part of a couple of hours. I'm trying to figure out how to setup the Auntoomous Car function. Do I need any accessories or should this work out of the box. I have the Carrera Digital 132 Hot Pursuit set.

Could someone please explain how this works. Also if you could explain how the pace car function works that would be great too. Looking at the manual it looks like I need the Pit Stop accessory to get the Pace car function to work but I don't think I need any accessory to make the autonomous car to function is that correct.

If I remember correctly, you press the lane switch button twice, then lift the car and press twice again to program the controller to identify the car, and if you do the same thing except press 4 times on the lane switch button first, then lift the car and press twice to run a ghost car. There is also a way to control the speed of each individual car by pressing the lane change button while turning on the power supply. The instructions are somewhat difficult to understand, but playing around with it helps you figure it out. Good Luck!

You put a car on the track, press the lane change button twice, lift the car off of the track and put it back on, then press the lane change button 4 times. Then use the speed controller to drive around the track at the speed you want the car to go, once at the desired speed press the lane change button to lock it in and the ghost car will continue around the track at that constant speed.

We have been farting around with this for hours still cant get. Your instructions are same thing outlined in manaual and it's what I think I'm doing. It seems that I have to jump on the speed while the lights flashing four times or I miss my window. I guess I'm not doing something wright. But it seems very complicated to get it. We got it twice but car was going around the track to fast and flew off. Are there any tricks? Is this simple or complicated to do? Maybe I'm over thinking this process.

Set the car on the track. Click two times, lift the car, set it back. Then the lights should be flashing. Click two times, little pause (half a second), click two times again. Then set the speed by pressing the button at the desired speed.

Please remember to have the little pause between the two times two clicks.

Matthias is right. I have had no issues doing it this way. The instructions, may not be clear, but that is what they say.

For Pace car, you have to do another set of double clicks to get that function going, but you do need the pit stop lane. Although I have to admit, having the pace car sit in the pit lane is kind of useless because then your cars have no where to go to pit for gas.

So to recap

1) Place car on track
2) Double Click
3) Lift car off track
4) put car on track (2 through 4 should be done fairly quickly)
5) Double click (This allows the controller to control this car in a normal mode)
6) Double Click again (This sets the car to ghost: Once you've completed this step, drive the car around the track... do NOT click the lane changer button until you are at the speed you want to be. Basically you want to drive the car as fast as possible through the tightest turn. Once you've made that, click the lane change button and the Ghost car will continue at that speed all round the track. The Ghost car will randomly switch lanes on its own after that).
7) Double click again. This will be a pace car. Like in step 6, run the car around the track at the desired speed. You need to have a Pit stop lane on the track for this function to work. The way this works, is that the pace car will find its way into the pit lane and stop. To activate it, you have to push the pace car button on the black box and the car will drive itself around the track until it finds the pit lane again..

Remember, do not wait more than a second between each double click. So if you want to set a car to "Pace Car" the whole process should not take longer than reading this part...

double click
lift car (wait 1/4 second)
Place car on track
double click
shot pause
double click
short pause
double click

Now run the car around the track and when at the desired speed click the lane change button.

QUOTE (FiddyGT @ 21 Jun 2009, 09:02) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Thank Matthias,
I will make sure to try the pause inbetwee the 2clicks PAUSE 2clicks then set the speed.

When you first start out programming cars in Carrera digital, the clicks combined with lifting/replacing front wheels can seem tricky. It's tough to get the speed right. Many people have trouble at first because they click the lane change button too quickly.

Once you've used the system for a bit, it's really pretty simple.

The correct speed will become a habit and you won't have any problems.

Thanks to everybody's input. Matthias suggestion of using a pause inbetween the second clicks is what worked. Now my 9yr can set the speed of the autonomous cars.
