The CU will be here tomorrow, if I get the pc adapter, will that connect to the new CU or do I need to buy something else? Since the driver display is still on back order, I will be able to use the pit lane, but how will I know my fuel level?

To connect the new CU to a pc, all you need is the pc unit or a cable from Richard Girling.
Cars will slow down and their lights will blink when they need fuel.
If you use Bruce Yingling's free software or PC Lap Counter you will be able to see your fuel level on screen. I don't think the software that comes with the pc unit shows fuel levels, but I could be wrong.

You do not need the lap counter with the new CU. I use the cable from RichG, which I assume works the same way as the Carrera PC adapter thingy. Then all you need on your computer is software (unless the PC adapter comes with some software). Bruce's (Yingling's ) software works very well for this and it is free. However, he is not currently working on it, so the last version is still a beta version. There are also other programs that also work with Carrera, but they can come with a cost.

By the way, if you intend to use the software that comes with PC adapter, I am not sure if it shows you fuel levels. I am guessing it does not because Carrera would like you to buy their hardware instead. But like I said, the is other software out there does show the fuel level.

and on last note:
With the CU you have three modes... "Fuel off", "Fuel On" and "Real"

Fuel off, is obvious...

Fuel On is like the old black box...
"Real", as far as I can tell works a bit different. Obviously, the amount of fuel impacts the speed and braking of the car. But the lights do not light flash until you have already run out of fuel. The car doesn't hesitate either like in "Fuel On" mode, but your laps do not count. I guess Carrera did it this was to get you o buy the "driver display" devices.

Cheers

Ok, I just ordered the cable from RichG, so once it gets here, I will check out Bruce's software, thanks!
