Can't help you with the blue can but I have a 1/24 Ferrari GTO with a red can SP90. I know it is original as it all came as a sealed kit. They probably used whatever they can get their hands on

IIRC the early 1/24 scale Revell cars came with the blue cans.

I built up a couple of the kits for display in my local model shop at the time and laid the bodies behind the chassis in the shop window. I can still recall seeing the blue cans in the middle of the aluminium chassis.

the first motor was blue and called sp 600. it was a can bell 36d. the sp 90 was silver and also a can bell 600. the blue motor I want identification is the 36d that was an end bell motor. which means that the armature extended out through the brush motor housing. reverse of what motors are normally. thanks again. .

Second from the left is a Lenz 36D in dark blue. But this was a rewind for the period. I have yet to see an SP 600 with a dark blue can, apart from the Lenz rewind.
There are many Revell silver and chromed motors . But that dark blue can motor , sure must be rare. I doubt a Revell kit would include a Lenz rewind. Zig

Yes indeed the blue end bell drive 36d is called the SP600 by Revell. It is a Mabuchi 12V motor with 10T pinion, without heat sinc brush hoods. The end bell is marked TKK & Japan and the came with red and green leads. The copyright date on the box & instuctions is 1964 and the stock # is R3399:400. I would say the colour is more mid blue and I have seen many of these.

Thanks gar. In all my years of collecting cars and motors . It has not crossed my path. Thanks for the information . So it is mid blue , and not dark blue. I will start to hunt one down. Zig

Ok gar, I looked up the SP600 mid blue motor on scratchbuilt.com. Yep , your description is spot on. Mabuchi/TKK specs like the Russkit 36D motors. Also , Lenz used some Russkit 36D motors for rewinds with the same specs. The one I have screams. Strange that I have not laid eyes on one while checking out motors on epay. Completely eluded me. Your info greatly appreciated. Now to track one down, even if I have to buy the complete car. Zig

Hey Jaak , the pic you posted , sure looks like a hot rewind version of the SP 600 motor. Possibly could even be a Lenz. It has similar lettering on the armature to my dark blue motor . Hard to make out if the can is silver under the mid blue or the gold of the Russkit motors. Good stuff Jaak. Zig
