Hello, is there anybody who can tell me the size (lenght and width) of the standard straight of Jouef tracks?
I also need to know the spacing between the 2 lanes....

In general, is there a website telling the basic data (like the ones above) of plastic tracks made by different makers?
It would be useful for the beginners and for all those who want to plan a track...

Thanks!

Hi Luca,

I don't happen to have any Jouef straights at the office, but here's a French ebay auction with a bunch of straights, just to give you a rough idea... I'll try to find out more tonight! Unless somebody can help you earlier...

I don't know of a website with the info you want, but maybe somebody here does...

Hi Luca ..

These questions pop up now and then. I seem to recall a suggestion about making a database for [track]parts from different makes/manufacturers at the Forum. It sure could be useful!

Ultimate Racer 3.0 >> has lots of different trackpart libraries. I´m a bit unsure about their accuracy though, but the Jouef-one [Record 64] states a fullstraight -width x length- 120.0 x 260.0 mm. lanespacing thus 50.0 mm so it must be about 1:40 to 1:64 in scale or something, right?

You´ll find some info also at the SlotCarAcademy >> The site is a good source for info in general on slotcars, tracks and different makes.

But feel free to ask .. anytime!

Thanks a lot,

unfortunately UR30 did the Polistil sizing wrong (though of only a few mm) and this makes me wonder about other makes.
In fact, those few mm's made my large track planning worthless and I had to redo it from the start.
ANyway I understand that they are in a smaller scale then 1/32, thus incompatible with other 1/32 brands.
Cheers,

Luca

Yes, Jouef scale is usually given at 1/36 to 1/40, depending on the car (F1 or GT, etc.). They were also sold as Champion in the UK and Eggar (Egger?) in Germany.

Production was roughly from 1963 to 1990 or so, with the cars getting progressively less well detailed and sophisticated (they lost their steering, etc.). But it's still a very popular brand in France, and some clubs still hold vintage races. There are even a couple of books on the subject, one coming out just a year ago or so. And they seem to be popular in the Netherlands for some reason as well!

Yes .. and I had a minor

reading the data in UR 3.0 on Jouef, lanespacing ought to be 65.0 instead ..

I´ve tried some trackeditors [mostly freewares] and most of them have had some inaccurancies regarding trackpiece datas. A bit tedious to correct and add parts, but then again, that´s freeware for you.

Here an Info Page >> with listing of some of the trackeditors on the market ..

This Feature >> done by Schauinsland, is very nice! SketchUp is a freeware and relative easy to use. But you have to draw up all the parts from scratch. But the possibilities are endless.

.. cheers ..
