Lap counting triggers pit stop

Good morning. I have RC running with a new Arduino board. Runs perfect as a lap counter! Calculates and tracks all laps with no issues. I've got about 1000 laps on it since hooking it up.

I am having an issue however, that as soon as I use a race event with the fuel option, each lap triggers an automatic pit stop, even though the car isn't sitting on the Start/Finish line. I have used the fuel option for several years with the non-Arduino setup with zero issues prior to this.

I've looked at my old configuration in RC that worked with an old cable and see no configuration differences.

Any help is appreciated.

My configuration:

  • I am using RaceCoordinator v1.14.0.0
  • Arduino Uno with the RC-provided
  • lapCounter.ino provided from RC's Arduino directory with a date of 08/16/2020
  • PIN 4 = Lap: L1
  • PIN 5 = Lap: L2
  • PIN 6 = Lap: L3
  • Use Fuel = Checked
  • Useage Type = Linear
  • Ref. Lap Time = 6.95
  • Useage = 20
  • Start Level = 200
  • Refuel Rate = 20
  • Pit Delay = 2

Thanks!

So you're saying its refueling every time you go across the S/F line even at full speed? How do you know it's refueling? Does the fuel go down over time? I assume you want to stop over the S/F iine to refuel and as such you have the "Lap Pin As Pit" set in the arduino configuration?

Hello, and thanks for checking in!

It does refuel every lap. The fuel goes down a small amount, you cross the sensor and hear "Pit Stop Started" and the fuel starts ticking up. Next lap, exactly the same results.

I do want to stop on the S/F line to refuel - have always done so.

Lap Sensor for Pits Usage = Lap Pin as Pit

Thanks!

SOLVED!

First off, thanks to RC for responding, looking at my logs and looking into things for me. I took about 8 weeks off over the holidays and other things to get back at it.

One thing kept nagging me: I was using USB for power and not a power pack...looking back - not a good move.

I installed a 9v, 1amp power pack with the correct-sized plug for the Uno, and voila! Laps work and the fuel works properly now.

Just wanted to follow up for others that may run into something giving them odd errors - check your power!
