Well, after my visit with SpaModeller, I did some major rethinking of my rally track design taking into consideration many comments and suggestions from the earlier thread on SF. And, (Ian don't shoot me), I've reworked it considerably losing 3 m. (10ft.) in length, but making for a better track overall. It will be built on three seperate tables for a total of about 11x6' (4x6 + 3x6 + 4x6) and a track length of about 65ft. (21 m.). It will be basically designed on SSD for 4 drivers (although it would be interesting to test out more). Here's where I'm at:

KEY: Red marks Bridges (three of which have been built already and seen in earlier thread)
Gray Lines in the upper right are walls for the old Italian walled town.

There are still some lingering issues, like where to put XLCs (lane changes). I've got three, but the plan only has two for now.

Humblest apologies, it seemed to be working fine when I did a quick check. Guess its related to the forum software. Perhaps there is someway that the files can be extracted from the forum side and made available to download.

At least you tried to solve the "problem"

Yep, hopefully something can be done, it will beat copying and pasting every page

Sig, I am sure from your experience and I know Bill knows, because he's built at least two ther tracks since he started the Targa, but once you have the hang of it and get that first track or two under your belt, they go MUCH quicker after that!

I am guessing that if Bill was starting the Targa now he would be able to get the "bones" of it done in Half the time it took him to do the Targa, maybe less?

I find this to be true with me as well, when I finally get the chance to build another track, I am not going to be nearly as cautious and I have done enough experimenting to know what works and what doesn't, what's a fast way to do it and what is a slow way!

Bill, is it possible that the new track could be a module of an overall much larger plan?? Finish that and then build the rest of it!?

Finish that and then build the rest of it!?No, not a module of a larger track. I like doing smaller diorama type tracks -- that is, a track based on a scene (or two) from a road or an event. I've got several in mind ... just need the time to do them!

And, the Targa is officially gone...

Loved building that track, but to everything there is a season, and the season of the Targa in my garage has passed. On to the Ponte de Miolans season!

Hi Bill
I'm new to the forum and just finished reading all 61 pages (pheww!) of this thread. I want to compliment you on the fantastic build-up of your Targa Florio and thank you for sharing the saga. Your experience is truly inspirational and I'm toying with ideas for my building my own rally/targa style road course - Targa Newfoundland perhaps. Your wood decked bridge is something I'm going to replicate.

Best of luck with your new project!
Bob
