Hi everyone...
From what I have been able to gather, the rear body offset is accurate to the prototype. It's intended to give an additional air buffer at high speed between the right side and the outside walls of the oval tracks.

or so I have been led to believe

Real NASCAR bodies are anything but symmetrical as the teams strive to find any aero advantage they can within the rules. Keep in mind the cars only turn in one direction.

If a slot car was a truly accurate model of a super speedway car it would look as if it had warped in from of the fire.

Great review! I don't even try to use the DPR's without needle nose pliers anymore, so it's not you, just a tight connector fit. I grab the white plug at the wide part mashing the plastic a bit and wiggle gently.

I have 5 of these and am waiting for the next DPR to come out. Love the way they drive. Big and bangable. Great tips on hopping them up, too. I've found that BRM shore 15's really make them grab with no mags.

Great review Zipp !. I have no Nascars yet, but was tempted last time I saw them in the shop. After reading your review, I think I want one ! It was one of my fellow racers who pointed me in the direction of these cars, as they look great digital compettition. I am glad that is what you experience in your review. How do the DPR's perform nowadays ? Any glitches ? I have 3 now, but they suffer now and then from the old habit of stopping or taking off at full speed, even after Riko's fix. It seems that something has changed however, my DPR's where not in a blue plastic when I got them. Can you confirm ? By the way, I never managed to place a DPR within 60 secs., mainly because the white socket is too tight. So, you are not alone in this. Thanks for your review, I know now what I have to ask Santa. At least 4 DPR Nascars !

the impala chassis is good but it takes a little fiddling to sort . sand down the chassis sides and back behind the rear axel and the chassis sides between the wheels . with this the body will be able to jiggle and the car will corner faster i enjoyed reading the review

Owensy,
Good spot, and something i perhaps should have mentioned in the review, as it did catch my eye too.

Stan,
You go steady with those pliers now.

One slip and.......

Minardi,
I only have the 4 DPR cars as yet, and have only had them a few days. I had been putting off using the DPR plugs, due to the bad press.
My plugs were wrapped in blue plastic.
Unfortunately, even in the few days i have had these, there have been 2 occasions where a car took off at full speed, and then crashed uncontrollably.

Not seen that happen in such a long time, it took me by surprise.

Glad to know i am not the only one who finds the plugs tight though.

Luckyfour,
You are quite right.
The chassis does fit in the body very snug, so a light sanding of the chassis edge is required if you want some body rock.

Ant,
Less than 2 mins, but not under 60sec.
I guess it could be done, if you limbered up properly before starting, and then stretched out to warm down, once completed.

Great review Kev, you'll be writing reviews for the Sunday Times soon at this rate..
Having had a play with the Nascars the other day I have to say they surprised me too, I thought they'd feel heavy and slow but they don't, they're grippy and responsive and are ideal magnet in digital racers. Robust enough to avoid damage in rear end shunts but great looking and easy to see on the track.

I know we tend to knock Scaley on here, "the wipers are wrong" or "wrong shade of gold" etc... and although these little errors are avoidable and annoying to some we shouldn't loose sight of the fact that Scalextric keep churning out some real quality cars. I'd guess that 90% (I said it was a guess -

) of Scalextric cars are bought by people who race on small, temporary, lounge carpet tracks and for them cars like this are ideal.

I've got all 5 of the Scaley Nascars and am now waiting on the other 2 to become available. I got them so I could crash and bang with the same spec'd car with different liveries. These are the first cars I bought, I got 3 different cars with my starter set. They all ran differently and every race the cars finished in the same order no matter who drove them. I got the GT digital set, the porche and the viper didn't catch my eye, but the DB9 did. These cars I can't stop staring at them on the shelf.

Thanks for the tuning advice as I had no idea what to do to them. Do the motors need to be run in? If so how do you do that?

QUOTE Scaley NASCARS are quicker than SCX NASCARS on Scalextric track, with magnets removed. SCX NASCARS are quickest on painted MDF. Carrera NASCARS are slow everywhere.

Thanks for that I am building a Carrera Nascar high banked oval and posted asking advice on different brand cars.I guess I will be chipping scaly cars and SCX I here SCX cars with tuning will do very well.
