Scalextric DPR Compatible Chassis for SCX NASCAR Aero (Monte Carlo)

A good friend switched from SCX Digital slot cars to Scalextric Digital, but had a large collection of SCX NASCAR cars, including several that he customized the livery on. He didn't want to give up using those bodies, but converting an SCX Digital chassis to plain analog or Scalextric Digital isn't as straightforward as for other brands. I offered to help, and this is the result.

Note that the purpose of this chassis is to use AS MANY ORIGINAL PARTS AS POSSIBLE, so that the parts from the SCX chassis can simply be moved over to this new one. The only thing needed is a standard analog type guide, the wiring loom for DPR chips, and the DPR chip itself. The motor pod from the SCXD chassis can just be popped out of the old one, and popped into the new one. The front wheels can be easily moved as well, using the stub axles clipped to the original chassis.

Due to the way the front wheels have struts, there is not enough room for the full DPR chip hatch. As such, the best way to install the chip is by clipping the plastic legs that hold the chip to the DPR hatch, and install it as shown in the photos (link below). I used some thick double stick foam tape to hold the chip to the chassis and raise it up enough that the LED does not stick out too far. The LED should be flush, or very slightly protruding through the bottom of the chassis. It should never be able to touch the track.

While this chassis was measured from, and tested on, the Monte Carlo model, I'm told that all Aero chassis are the same, so this should work under any SCX NASCAR Aero style body. A clean print should not require any modifications to work, but there may need to be some trimming of the chassis or body for optimum fitment, particularly the guide holder, depending on the guide you choose. Also, the chassis limiting tabs on the sides of the body may need to be trimmed down a small amount, as will the post in the center of the interior tray. See Photos.

Supports are needed for some areas, but the screw holes/posts are designed not to need support on the inside. If you use PrusaSlicer, definitely make use of the pre-supported 3MF files I've uploaded.

Per the license, you are free to print these for your own use, but I do not grant permission to print them for sale.

If you do not have access to a 3D printer and need some chassis, please send me a PM to order. Price per chassis is $5 +shipping.

I don't have those cars, but if either of them are CoT or Aero style bodies, the chassis are the same for others of like style bodies.

And these aren't "tuner" chassis. These are SCX style chassis, just with DPR features, and standard guide mount. You still are using the SCX pod and front wheels.

I don't want to give anyone false hope. I simply said it was possible. It's not currently on my to-do list. As previously mentioned, these chassis were a special case so that Kelly could use as many original parts from the SCX chassis as possible, and not have to replace all the running gear as Neillie's request would require. As exhibited by responses to my chassis here and elsewhere, this particular need is VERY niche, and no other chassis designers were likely to take the time. That's the only reason I did it.

I have no desire or intention of becoming a chassis designer, so I would suggest that if anyone believes there is a market for such a chassis, to suggest it to one of the many other entities that are producing a variety of slot car chassis. Fortunately, they would only need two versions, since all the SCX NASCAR CoT chassis are the same, and all the Aero chassis are the same.

It seems you've answered your own question. If the Pro body doesn't fit either of the existing OEM SCX chassis other than it's own, then these 3DP ones will also not fit, as they were not based on the Pro chassis/body. I'm a only a little surprised that they would change the body post locations for the Pro version. Or I misunderstood your post.

Im told by other fellow sloters that the Impala not PRO chasis will fit the PRO version but as I have none of them wouldn’t know for sure, perhaps if @Neillie would make a standar Scx chasis like the ones you designed , that’s with the stock Scx motor mount , that would be great 😉
Now I'm really confused... isn't that what my original chassis is?
If the non-Pro chassis will fit the Pro body, then that means my chassis will work with the Pro body as well.
