Does anyone know if Scalextric have released their fully painted kits yet? In Particular the No. 9 GT40 GULF? Does the painted body fit the Scalextric GT40 Slot version chassis?

Yeah, I noticed that recently after posting the original message. Sean, do you know if the bodies have all the screw threads that the slot bodies have and on the GT40, do they have the side inserts that fit into the side of the Slot chassis?

I looked at a Focus kit yesterday, and the body itself is exactly the same. Chassis was different, with wierd peg things, but the body was exactly the same. I cant imagine why the GT40 would be any different.

I wouldnt let it put you off buying one, if it doesnt work then you'll have something to scratchbuild to:)

Yep, the kits are based on their slot car brothers, as the body is the same. The chassis is where you notice the differences.

Just beware that the bodies are made of thinner plastic than the slot cars, therefore a little more brittle.

Thanks LMP04 and everyone else who has helped me out on this one. Gonna buy a few or get a load for my birthday then paint, paint, paint. I will try and make some custom liveries and I'll post up some pictures if anybody's interested.

After having stripped a Scalex GT40 slotcar, I can't believe these models are of thinner plastic

With the paint off the slotcar the plastic is so thin you can almost see through it. The models must be made of kitchen clingfilm to be thinner.

Does anyone know for fact that the models are thinner and more brittle (ie. somebody who has made a car and raced it compared to the slock slotcar equivalent?
