Okay, how do you get a slot car to run through 'snow' like this?

At Wolves we found it great fun, but all but impossible to get consistent electrical contact between the rails and the braids due to 'snow' build up. Any one care to tell me how it's done in deep 'snow'?

Luck?............I could complete one pass with one car and not with another, could only do it on one cornor not a whole circuitt

I bet you could fashion a small plough to the guide front?

I have read somewhere that you can put a small brush in front of the guide to clear most of the powder away, even so I doubt they get more than a couple of laps done before they need to clean the braids.

Hi Scott

If you log onto RCT Valles club slot website http://www.rctvalles.com/new/castellano/index_cas.htm you'll find an amazing series of photo's that explains various modifications that can be done for preparing a Group 'A' car.

Log on and click onto 'Articulos' then 'Tecnicos' then 'Construccion Grupo A' and you'll see what I mean.... oh, and don't forget to click on 'siguiente parte' to go onto the next page of photo's.

Self cleaning rear wheels anyone

I do not know very much of rally, but for what I see in my club, it good to dismount and clean all the cars after the event.
As for the setup, I know that for lubricating the axles, pinion and crown it must be the most reduced possible. For the motor, in Ninco type motors if they are standard ther is no problem. As for the SCX motors the holes can be closed with a tape. an other thing important is the braids, which must be opened in 2 to 3 mm in the end.
About the track, after you put the flavour, you must clean the contacts in the track with a brush.
There are also difrent type of tyres for tracks too dirty, less dirty and so on. You can see in this site of a Spanish manufacturer of rally slot goods
http://www.pekaese.com/
diferent type of tyres, chassis and other things specially done to rally slot.

Somewhere here on Slot Forum there is a full explanation of this by Ricardo El Pirata, I think.

Basically get a Group A chassis from Spain (GOM, PRS and several others make them) which somehow magically ensures sufficient electrical contact, make sure the car is totally dry i.e. practically no wet lubrication of any sort, go racing.

Or in other words, find Ricardo's explanation!

Something I suggested at Wolves (which we didn't try but I'd be interested in views on it) was to clean the flour off the metal tracks contacts and wipe with WD-40.

Now don't ask me how I know this(!), but in some Birmingham nightclubs that have had a problem with cocaine use in the toilets they have gone over to coating flat surfaces (sink surrounds, top of handdryers etc.) with WD-40 as it's presence dissolves heaped powder and makes it impossible to heap up a line of the stuff.

My idea was maybe this could 'magically' do the same with flour and keep the white stuff off the contacts and then out of the braids?

Anyone with experience of this?

Ok,

WD40 - Check
Small Silver Wrapped Package - Check

Spray side and shake..........sniiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiifff..............nope doesnt work!.

Coopdevil.

Will try it tomorrow and let you know. Sounds like it may not but surely the flour would simply stick to the metal or so all musshy?.

Cheers
