Hi, dunno if it's any use for anyone here but: Thingiverse - Digital Designs for Physical Objects
The link above is my thingiverse page with a few of my 3D printed projects related to slot-cars..
I will be uploading what I create, so keep an eye on it, there will be more to come.

I'm pretty sure it will interest plenty of people, just curious to what GT40 body did you make the chassis for? If it's for a 3d printed body where did you get the file? I'm pretty interested in doing it!
Cheers,
John.
I'm pretty sure you could try to accommodate the chassis onto any 1/24 GT40 kit. But I made the chassis to fit this kit:

Fabulous!!!

I have a bunch of 1/24 kit hard bodies this may fit ranging from the many different 1/24 Fujimi GT40s, LS GT40 and Chaparral 2C, Hasegawa Chaparral 2D, Group C cars, etc. as well as for use of the rear motor carrier alone for adapting to almost any 1/24 or 1/32 diy scratch
Nice one!
Chassis wheelbase can be easily modified to fit a specific car, track width not so much.

I've just printed your chassis and can't seem to figure out how you did the gearing! Can you post a few pictures of yours please? Seems to me the chassis is to wide or have you used a motor with a extra long shaft?
Cheers,

Hi, the Mk1 chassis was designed around the set of 1/32 gears axles etc, I had available at the time which are in the description:

The MK2 chassis had more development done to it and can accommodate 1/24 wheels, 3mm diameter axles, but both were designed around a flat6 motor (normal lenght shaft).

The motor you are using on you project seem to be taller than a flat 6. Not sure it will enclose properly.. (I should probably design a couple of more motor mount options in the future)

I will take some pictures later when I get back home.
Let me know how you get on.

Also.. A quick note: the crown is meant to go the other way.. You can acheave that by cutting some of that axle extention. The crown lives on the inside. Or I think that's what I did?

Okay, what gearing are you using? Because the spurgear will have to be a smaller diameter than usual for a 1/24 BRM car.
I've just been looking at your files and worked out there two different files, cancel all my questions, and I'll print the right one ! Sorry about that!

John.
It's dificult for me to remember exactly what was used on the MK1 as I ditched that project for the MK2 (by MK 1&2 mean the chassis and not the GT40 Mk-something).
In the Mk2 I've used:
  • Scaleauto Nylon Spur Gear 37t (19,5 mm diameter)
  • Slot it 11T pinion (6,5 mm diameter)
Hope this will help.
Ps: the MK1 was originally designed as a quick and cheap conversion using 3D chassis, motor mount and wheels to accommodate supplied tyres with kit etc..
