We all have our preferences and our reasons for the brand of slot car and track system we like best, the Question is. WHY?
For example my choice, is Scalextric! What's yours? That's just a personal opinion, relevant to me and is, well !!??!
Though making the car a little heavier it also makes it more robust, detail, correct size, correct appearance, super finish
and a fast enough for me, mostly a 18000 RPM motor. The track with ARC PRO. digital system complete with needed
digital extras and track width that allows more track for a given space. OK! Not the best but to me and my requirements
It is!

WHATS YOURS!!

To Each their own!

I think you are correct when you say Scalextric. If it wasn’t for Scalextric, the majority of us would never have enjoyed slot cars, in fact, although there have been other brands, without Scalextric, there would be no slot cars.

Without a doubt : Slot.IT !

Well designed chassis'
Quality transmission parts (metal boss spurs/crowns)
Alloy wheels with set screws
Multiple motor mount types supporting multiple motor types (s-can, fk180, flatsix)
Anglewinder, sidewinder and inline support
Run well without magnets
Great value for money
A good range of tyres that are not model specific
Good spares availability (including replacement bodies)
Tuneable through upgrades
Support for events such as OxiGen LeMans
Unafraid of innovation

Scalextric ticks NONE of those boxes for me.

Congratulations Allen, No doubt a fine brand plus subordinate Policar.

I want to agree, Slot.it has pushed slotcars to the next level.
And with the reselling mentality it is a gift for the hobby.
Do not forget about Policar brand is also selling a nice track system.
Controllers too! SCP Series is an very nice line of controllers.

First wanted to say Racer/Sideways, because I like the cars so much.
But Slot.It really deserves the credit for spot #1.

Cars I enjoy most are manifold. The NSR 917, Fly 917s, Slot It 956, Scalextric Eff 1 cars of the 1970s and Carrera Group 5 Beetles are all part of our weekly remit, but when push comes to shove, I most enjoy the cars I've built, especially when they're well sorted and perform as intended.
nevermind - I was half asleep

Slot.it and they're cheaper than Scalextric here in NZ, especially these days in Christchurch. I still like the odd Scaley and I'll be getting a Mk1 Jag when they arrive and I've just bought a MG6 'cos we've just started a recent BTCC class and the MG was old stock and 2/3 the price of the new alternatives, and I had to join the grid or else I wouldn't have bothered. Also, there's a few Carrera cars I can't pass on..

Track wise it's Policar, yes the grip is great but mainly because I like a rigid track and it's got deep slot. My prefect plastic trac would be Policar plastic, Airfix brass rails and Scalextric Classis range of pieces.

I don't have a favourite brand of cars, for home it's what the car is not the brand and for club racing it's what meats the rules.

I agree with longdog that a fair amount of us will likely have a fondness for Scalextric, but if you look at what their current rage of cars cost compared to other offerings it’s really had to call them “favourite”. And it’s a pity, because I’d like to. I’m not saying it all comes down to pricing, but the value proposition has to play a role.

Slotit and Policar will take some beating in that department, no matter which angle you look at them from.

My track has always been Scalextric, currently with a Ninco lap timer (Scalextric lap counter caused a lot of deslots).
For cars, i like anything Ninco, original 80s Scalextric Audi Quattro, Porsche 935, Lancia 037, BMW M1 and their Ferrari F40. I also like Fly Lola T70, Porsche 917, and Saleen S7R. ScaleAuto De Tomaso Pantera, Pioneer Dodge Charger, Pink Kar VW Beetle and SCX Volvo 850 T5.

As I don't race but like to enjoy my cars, outright speed isn't so important.

Slot.it. When I re-entered the hobby I wanted to build a wood track and start with nice looking, reasonably priced cars that ran well out of the box and would be a good platform for me to learn about how the newer cars worked and how to tune them. So I studied the forums and decided that slot.it best fit the bill for me.
