Yellow flag conditions in ARC PRO

Having only had my ARC PRO track running for a couple of months, I am still using the Scalextric App. My understanding of the Yellow Flag is that when a car de-slots you can touch the app and get a yellow flag waving on the screen. This also triggers the throttles on the still slotted cars so that they can only be driven at a reduced speed until the de-slotted car is back on the track and the app is touched again to allow full racing to continue.

Do I have this right?

What really happens.

It seems that when the yellow flag is activated all of the cars still slotted STOP; unless their drivers hold down the throttles Full, then they crawl along the circuit until the yellow is removed. But when it is removed WATCH OUT! If you are still holding the throttles down full the cars take off and all crash at the very next corner.

Has anyone had the same experience?

That will be more or less of an issue depending on how slow your "calibrated" (safe) speed has been set to for each car. If you set those speeds to be higher, such that holding the throttle at full is fast enough to deslot, but still slower enough that it's a situation to be avoided, you might not have such a drastic speed increase.

Of course, it's a good idea to audibly count down before deactivating the yellow flag so that all drivers are prepared for the speed increase.

But yeah... that's pretty much why we never use a slow-down option for yellow flag. Going back to full power was almost never clean and crash free. If we don't have enough people to marshal every corner during a race, but use full stop track call to deal with the crashed cars.
