QUOTE (Graymalkin)"Why cant they just put the bits in a box and seal it in a bag."I second your question: why not make it less expensive for us...?!?! If they really have to have a "celebration" offering it's OK with me, but have a "normal" one available too...

Cheers!

And supply a proper Ninco case for it ... oh and give us a race livery

Sweet car, would have ordered one myself if it came in a race paintjob.

Hi Guys; I can't really comment on the whole value of this kit thing,
but I have to give Ninco credit on the improvements that they
ave made on this car.

A while back I bought and repainted one of the older Ninco Ferrari F50's
and from what I see on the pictures of this kit, Ninco has done a lot of
nice detailing on the car.

Here is a pic of my repaint

The hardest part to get right on this car was the black stripe around the middle of the car, the black trim around the windshield and painting the prancing stallion on the back of the car silver.
On this kit Ninco have addressed all three of these issues, so I commend them on that.

The only other thing that I think that they could have improved on is the lights
on the front of the car. The real F50 had a black trim ring around the clear
plexiglass cover. I added this detail to my car and I think that it really helped
the overall look of the car.

Anyway I am glad that Ninco has reissued this car with better detail, but I still
kind of scratch my head and wonder why. I think that Slot.it's Ferrari F40 and
Ninco's F50 may be two examples of the best cars issued, that no one was asking for.

Oh well I still like em all.

Hey Gordo, I sort of assumed it was simply a re release in kit form. What changes have they done to the original?

I think, to answer you ponderings on why re release it, that Ninco just ran out of colour options.
As I mentioned before on the forum, the reason alot of Ferrari kits are coming out is (apart from the kit fad) that it circumvents many license issues so Ninco again have the possibility to add it to their range after 7 years.

As for race liveries, well the F50 was produced mainly to celebrate their 50th Anniversary and not as an out and out race car like the F40 before it. In fact they only produced 349 in a deliberate move to make one less than they estimated they could sell ! Rumour has it that it was initially only offered to select Ferrari affecionados who had at least two Ferraris, one of which that was bought new. It also was only offered officially in red, yellow, silver or black although I have seen a stunning dark blue one. The GT version was cancelled early into the development program in favour of the F1 Team.

Ninco themselves only released 4 versions other than this kit, red and yellow street cars around 1996, both with racing numerals on and the latter having a shell sticker or two. Plus a blue and white 'Rothmans team' look alike in 1998 and the red and black livery entitled 'sponsors' a year or so later.
Whether either are real liveries is anyones guess as it has been raced on occasion but only by privateers in small races.

A basic google search dug up this site with some ideas for fictional liveries if you are up for it.

QUOTE (PeteN @ 12 Feb 2007, 23:30) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>They should make kits of the 166 and Testa Rossa, they would sell a lot! Here is the racing version of the F-50, the F-50 GTR-1, but I'm not sure it was ever actually raced?

Actually it never raced, just a few testings for a category thas was supposed to appear in the FIA GT but never was... together with the Carrera GT, SLRs and others. Surprisingly they made the Maserati MC12.

hey guys, the F50 GTR was also made by two ingenious modellers starting from the NINCO F50 and adding some scratchbuilding:

you can see the first one on

http://www.amazingslot.com/index2.html

and the second one was made by a friend of mine (I gave him my old "basic" F50 and an F40 scalextric old chassis...and he made the work of genius)

by the way...I adapted the wheel arches of the scalextric F40 body to the ninco F50 chassis and made some "dremel" tweaking...so me and my friend have completed a kind of "franken-ferrari" project

photos incoming, stay tuned...
