I am contemplating buying some F1 cars from 1960s but wanted to check who has made what models so far? Quick search has revelead that Scalextric have released few models but can not find out if other manafucaturers have released any of their own models.

So far I have found the following:

SCALEXTRIC C3206 - LOTUS COSWORTH 49 JIM CLARK F1 1968

Interesting topic Zarko, hadn't really thought about this before. Scalextric does seem to be the only "big" manufacturer producing new (last 10 years) tooling of vintage F1 cars, an undertaking for which they rightfully deserve, and have received, credit.

In the last decade, SCX has re-issued a few 60's F1s such as the B.R.M., McLaren, Honda (that were originally issued in the 1960's), using old Scalextric (or maybe Exin?) tooling. Not always easy to find though, especially the Honda.

Scalextric also did a #5 Eagle, although this livery was from the 1967 non-championship Race of Champions at Brands Hatch.

As Kitmen mentioned, there are early 60s cars from Scalextric, more than one livery of each;
1960 Cooper Climax T53 - Scalextric C2639A

1961 Ferrari 156 - Scalextric C2640A

and although I doubt that these were what you were originally looking for, Scalextric did various 60s cars back in the late 60s, early 70s; Lotus 21, Porsche 804, Ferrari 158, Matra MS11, BRM P83 and Honda RA273. Performance isn't on a par with the modern cars, but they're well worth a look. The nicest, in my opinion, are these two;
1964 Ferrari 158 V8 - Scalextric C9

1968 Matra MS11 - Scalextric C14

Thank you to you all for your feedback so far. As some of you have guessed, my initial interest is with the modern releases of 1960s cars and as initially discovered it is only Scalextric that release such cars with occasional model from SCX (see BRM P-216 below) but not sure if SCX make or plan to do any more. I guess there are plenty of models out there to get me started...

Here is few more I found:

Scalextric C3033 Ferrari 156 #8 1961 Belgian Grand Prix

Scalextric C2640 SPORT FERRARI 156 - No.4 DRIVEN BY PHIL HILL IN THE 1961 GERMAN GRAND PRIX

Scalextric C2729 Cooper Climax T53 F1 1960, Bruce McLaren

Scalextric C2727 Ferrari 156 F1 1961 , W. VonTrips

BTW - It would be good to keep this topic going mainly for the reason of being able to refer to which models where released. So, if you are aware of any other models from 1960s, please post the full reference and link to the photo if available.

The SCX BRM is labelled a P261 but is really a P83, the 1966 three-litre H16 car, like the Scalextric C37, which was made in Spain anyway.
I realise zarko was looking for modern models, but someone seemed to think a broader list would be useful and RichD mentioned some older issues, including the Atlas Ferrari 158 and a Brabham from the 1.5-litre period. Both were originally produced by Marusan in Japan and sold in kit form in the UK by Riko. Marusan labelled the Brabham as a BT3 but it was a BT7 or possibly a BT11.
The motors are open-frame but much more powerful than the Scalex RX and the gears are brass bevel. They can be the proverbial handful on their narrow tyres but are worth having for a 1961-65 grid.
Monogram also did an excellent c1965 Ferrari 158 with a 13UO can motor, though they're now a collector's piece and probably expensive.
There were also the Airfix cars: a Cooper that I see as the 1960 2.5-litre T53 but may serve as a 1961 car; from 1961-65 grids the Porsche 804, a mediocre Lotus 24 and a good BRM P261; and from the post-65 three-litre formula the Honda RA273, an Eagle and the Cosworth-engined 1968 Matra MS10. The last four of those came in various forms -- RTRs and kits, different motors, chassis and non-chassis, and sadly for at least two of them a later so-called Super series with superfluous wings and airboxes. The Clubman Special versions with ballrace or Slimline motors are the best.
VIP did early 1960s 1.5-litre F1 cars, such as the Ferrari 156, BRM P57 and Honda RA272. They were highly regarded at the time and are better slot-cars than their Scalextric contemporaries, but without some work most would probably look out of place in a field of modern replica-style models.
Polistil also did 1960s GP cars but the only one I have, a 1.5-litre BRM, is gross-looking and has a dreadful motor.

You may be interested to know that some of us have decided that new shells are needed for this period to run with the Lotii and Eagles shown above. We are therefore taking steps to bring some of these shells to reality but it takes time and money. The first such 3 litre should be available around the end of Q1 with more to follow as budget permits.

I don't think I should say too much at this stage so as not to disappoint.

Cheers

Whilst looking for information on the Scalextric Classic and Leg ends series of Formula 1 cars I came across this old thread and thought I'd resurrect it.

My first purchase from these series is:

Scalextric C3413 Lotus 49B Rob Walker Racing No.22 - Jo Siffert - British GP 1968.

There were a great many 1960s F1 made back in the day. The 60s was a golden age of slot cars with many manufacturers making 1960s F1s and much else. Bernards's Slot Car Museum has what must be the most comprehensive collection http://bernardsslotcarmuseum.com/

If you want to build it yourself, there are lots of resin and fiber glass shells of 1960s F1 for example Penelope Pitlane, ACME, Betta & Classic.

If you ever get the chance to see the real cars go for it. A F1 Lotus 33 Climax looks pretty small alongside the contemporary Indy Lotus 38QUOTE (FZSsemans® @ 29 Jan 2012, 12:38) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>I think this is Lotus-Climax type 33 F1

The engine detail is pretty clearly a BRM H16 so it'll be a Lotus 43 BRM

The engine is detail pretty clearly a BMW Apfelbeck F2 so presumably it's a Lola BMW T100. John Surtees did race a T100 in F2.

I've a weakness for Grand Prix and F1. My collection is made up of Scaley, SCX, Cartrix, Polistil/Slot it, SRC (shelf queens), Fly, Flyslot and a handful of resins (pendleslot, pre-wing). I've a couple of true vintage Revell/Mono F1 but their quality is not up to par. This picture doesn't show the SRC Renault or the resin cars nor the true vintages. All are non mag of course.
