I know it is a bit complicated, but it does work and I quite like it.... however I am never satisfied so.....

What a mighty bowl of spaghetti, and welcome to the crazy brigade.(DistantKiwi where are you??)

As you use digital you should consider sight lines (all six drivers has to be able to see the entire, or most of the track.)
Meaning that you will have to stand along the backstraight to have a complete overview.
But you probably already know this.

I'm sure both layouts can be made to work, however you should try to build the layout on the floor or table to try it out before committing to anything.

I'll be looking forward to further updates.

cheers

Just a couple of comments, your top track has a relatively short pit and the bottom none at all... I would not have a track without a pit lane if I were you as it limits the functionality of the RMS. If your not planning to hook up a pc then no problem but if I was you I would. I find pit stops a great part of the race especially if you position the pit entry in a tricky place at the end of a bend.

Super-long, super-complicated tracks like this have their disadvantages. First, unless you have six racers you will seldom be in a dice with anyone else. Second, it's a lot of track to maintain. Third, you have to marshall the corners and some seem pretty difficult to reach. Fourth, PSRRFH is absolutely right. Fifth, go forth...it will be fun to drive, even on your own. Some of those corners are wicked.

Thanks for the comments guys - the top one is actually built, but like I said, one is never satisfied!! The room is a conservatory summer house, and is limited in size so therefor, while I take on the comment reference marshalling, it might be something I have to live with! It looks a lot better in the flesh than as a plan!! I will post some more pics when I get to reduce them, cos they are a bit big!!!

I know I have not put a pit lane in the second one, but probably will, hopefully around the start line, coming off the slight wiggle before, and feeding back into half way round the first corner!!

It looks pretty...

I crammed track onto my first layout design in a similar way... ended up with a tear down because of the hidden crash points, on digital there is more than one car on a lane and a car deslotts in a hidden spot, it difficult to recover and a nother car crashes into it without realising its there...

Was the damage i did to my car collection that made me change to all "flat" layouts... because i race "party style" when friends come over most are newbs and find it hard to read a complicated design...

If however you mostly race in pairs or alone your layout will prove great fun

its all horses for courses, what works for one will not work for another... I love lar's well mountain but don't have the space... if i had the space would still build something different... but doesn't stop me being impressed by it or wanting to race on it....

wow, 6 180 hairpins in one layout, "Hairpin Delight", I love it.

A wonderful room as well with all the windows letting in the beautiful sun.
Some of us have short attention spans(ADHD) so we rebuild often. :)

Cheers

Lars is so right...

Built Started on my oval 8 weeks ago finished it 6 weeks ago, rebuilt the XLC layout Pit Layout twice more since then... never rush the scenics (rich coming from me) give yourself time to find all your likes and dislikes pefore applying the hardshell scenics...

Hi All

I have started to lay some grass sheets, with a little bit of trial and error, but am finding my youngest daughters PVA glue the easiest to stick!! But I do not really have a aim for the scenics, which i think where the second design come from, as I am a keen F1 fan, so am thinking a more traditional F1 track!

Pit Lane Added! The idea is the back three rows of track, the Back Straight, the esses, and the straight behind the pits would be elevated above the pit buildings!! The only bits I feel need work is turn 1 and 2! Any thoughts or ideas?

Anyway the GP is on in a mo... come on Michael!!

You could lengthen the start straight? and have the 1st 2 corners more like a sweeping "S" bend?

I can see plenty of fun to be had on the spaghetti bowl of the first track. But I can't imagine trying to work out where to retun a car that has deslotted. Eeenie.... meenie.... minie....

Option 2 definitely needs some elevation changes. I'm a big fan of the interesting outcomes caused by an unexpected hill or drop away before a corner. But then, I'm mean and put them in nasty places just to keep people awake.

Evolution is key.

I like that last one a lot. With the proposed elevations, and maybe smoothing out the end of the front straight and pit exit, should be a great track to race on, even with 6 cars.

Though, if you do plan to have a lot of cars on, you might consider selling off some of those squeeze hairpins and swapping them out for normal R1 turns. A couple squeezes is ok, but that many per lap is just begging for unintentional nerfing.

Here I am, been a bit busy lately. I really like the 1st one (surprise, surprise). Once again deslotting being the problem of what seems to be a really great fun track. Unders and overs, line of sight problems, hmmmm. Me thinks there is a need for persplex track.
