I found this box on my shelves while looking for a different car. Here is 4 of my Shadows and 2 March 6 wheelers. I am a big fan of the Shadows, I have a further 3.

Not to mention engine hoods and front wishbones.

Sadly, one decapitated roll bar though.

I have none of them Sahadows, have any slot brand (besides old Polistil) made these cars? Would be nice for Policar to to them with the new mechanics.

Cheers

An old Brab in mint condition bought by my slotting chum, Nicholas, an age ago for next to nothing. He put it in a box and forgot about it until recently. New 'urethanes fitted last evening, and awf it went. Incomprehensible performance. A very fast car that just looks fairly awful.

I am now charged with converting it from a toy into something that looks more like a Brab. Might be fun.

We race these as a class at Farnborough Park - F1 with/without underpans, commonly known as the underpants F1s.

The car to beat is always the Tyrrell 008. Not sure what alchemy went into the things but you are always fighting uphill against them. The BRM is a good one too, as is the March tea tray with its super-wide rear axle.

I run a Williams repainted as an ATS and am slowly finishing off a Ferrari 312T3, although cutting out the driver and lowering him is a modification and so frowned upon...

My latest box of bin-fodder from the UK contained, not one, but two March 771s, 2 Ferrari 312T3s, a Renault RS01, and enough spare bits to make them all whole again (less a 312T3 spoiler), and the necessary parts to complete another Renault RS and a Qudos 312T that I already had. Oh, and another Lotus 77 and a Tyrell 008. Considering I'm not really into F1s I do seem to be accumulating a lot of them.

So far the Tyrell, one of the Marches, the Qudos 312T, the Renaults and the 312T3s have been through the clean/fix/lube/retyre process. I've got a playdate booked with my mate with the extensive but bumpy Scaley Classic track, so we might be having a bit of a 70s GP frenzy. Photo shows the March, Qudos and Tyrell ready for the track.

Thanks for your latest entry Laurence as it bumped the thread and brought it to my attention (somehow I missed it previously) and thanks to Mike @42redcat for starting it.

Hopefully you won't mind my contribution, as this thread subject is right up my ally so to speak.

As well as a number still wrapped already on the bench awaiting attention, these little gems were spotted and had to be "rescued". Notice anything not quite right?

With the ever increasing penchant to dismantle seemingly complete cars to flog as groups of constituent parts, it is little wonder wheels and other parts end up being assembled back on the wrong models, should it be decided to flog whole cars for a change.
I feel a mini swap meet between Mr Brabham, Mr Williams, Mr Lotus and Mr Ferrari coming on in the not too distant future, with at least two of the four being happier with a wheel/axle swap.

Scalextric made in France:
BRM, Tyrrell, Ferrari, Lotus turbine

Thanks for the pics above, chaps. A veritable feast of aged gems. My experience of these old Scalextric cars is that they're under-rated, which is why I'd like to buy more. Not only do they look well, especially when painted in authentic colours, but they go especially well. Polyurethane tyres are key.

I'm always impressed by how much use Scalextric got out of some of the tooling. The Ferrari 312T and the Brabham BT44 particularly, were in the range for 20-odd years, daft colour schemes not withstanding.

Trouble is, the Brabham BT44 handled like bambi on ice. 🤪
